No offense pero wala akong nakitang specific na Vow of Poverty. Pero sabi mo nga its what the Vow means.
In my POV the verse is about GIVING UP ALL your possessions for the benefit of all.

We all have our own idea kung ano ang "sasakyan na maganda". Yung "sasakyan na maganda" that is related to the topic is yung luxurious vehicles.

after reading the life of St. Francis, syempre karamihan iisipin pinagpapala ang ang maging mahirap. come 'on. it's not even like that.

St. Francis chose a version of sacrifice and it so happens na he chose to be poor. madami klase ng sakripisyo sa mundo, and hindi ibig sabihin maging mahirap ka lang. for example, if you sacrifice your ambitions like for example, nag-resign ka bec. bumabagsak ang ekonomiya ng bansa. that's a sacrifice. another example, if you shield your body to save another man, that's another form of sacrifice.

now bakit sacrifice? bakit puro sakripisyo na lang naririnig natin sa bibliya. kasi the bible is just conveying an idea that is very true to even nature: give and take is to sacrifice and you shall have eternal life . pareho lang yun.

always, remember what jesus said: wag masyado mahumaling sa materyal na bagay. hindi ibig sabihin nito maging mahirap ka and deny what the world has to offer.

ang ibig sabihin nito, wag mo masyado dibdibin ang bago mo bili Civic FD to the point na magdadamot ka sa kapatid mo o magyayabang ka sa kapwa mo o lahat na lang tungkol sa tsikot babasahin mo to keep your new car safe. it's just a CAR!

yun ang ibig sabihin ni Jesus Christ. kaya ang the best na nag-aapply ng teachings ni jesus christ ay ang mga negosyante eh. kasi pinapaikot nila pera/blessings nila. meron ka ba nakita na tycoon na kumita ng 1B, tapos tinago lang niya sa sarili niya. hindi diba, kung materyoso sya tinago na lang nya yun 1B and let fear and paranoia takeover. instead, ang ginawa niya ininvest nya, bec to him 1B is just temporary and as a result, umikot ang pera. people get hired, investments lumago and everybody happy.

so next time you see, na mga taong materyoso, yun ang mga tao na nag-iipon ng kung anu-ano bec. to them, their happiness can only be derived from material things. and they'd even kill to protect it.

so at least klaro na, poverty does not equate being good or blessed.
