    sorry Piston, not sorry

I hate all these empty jeeps Baguio causing traffic. wala naman laman. if they didn't have that much emissions and they don't occupy the roads and the shoulders(parked). i wouldn't go against them.

DOTC rush to phase out jeepney in 2016 more of a rush for commissions ? Piston « Bulatlat

grabe parking ng jeep sa st. ana bridge.

if crimes would go up because of these jeepney drivers losing their livelihood. increase the police to citizen ratio..

pwede bang yung mga jeepney driver ang palitan? Pushing e-jeeps will cut down on pollution, but it won't make them better drivers.

There is nothing wrong with the jeepney as it's even a philippine icon and you think phasing out the jeepney is the solution?
The problem is the jeepney driver , you phase out the jeepney and put those jeepney drivers into e-jeepneys, cars , taxis, buses and you have the same problem all over again.

The jeepney does not maintain it's self but rather humans. If the human (driver /owner) does not do it's job right, don't expect the jeepney to correct it self. If humans put a gas fed engine on a jeepney, will it be a smoke belcher ? If the engine is religiously maintained, will it be a smoke belcher ?

errr... the e-jeepney i refer to, does not sport a fossil fuel-burning engine. it can't belch out smoke...
the only pollution it can possibly give out, is small amounts of ozone.

    regular jeepneys..?

There no sense to be paranoid. From old dilapidated corollas to brand new vios ang taxis. Buses are now not rolling coffins, may design naman presentable.

It's time for the jeepney to be regulated and upgraded para naman mag-match sa progress natin na tinatamada ngsun

It will also put a curb on smuggling paubra engines and sometimes cause accident and death

It's high time we phase out these excuse of a vehicle

Air quality index of metro manila is 150+ micrograms per normal cubic meters.

    Over 50% above good index.

Sharp will have a good business with their air purifiers once these pulmonologists and chest doctors recommend air purifiers.

    I'm all for this change.

Unlike a few here, I refuse to take the cynical views of the issue. I would like to have my children enjoy clean air in the future. This is going to be a major step for the government, but they have to start somewhere.

Instead of outright refusing to replace old jeepneys, citing how 'well-maintained' their current jeeps are or how expensive the EVs are, etc., PISTON should rather consider negotiating for a transition program that will allow them to exchange their old jeeps for e-PUVs that does not put too much dent on their wallet.

i recently took a one hour walk in busy kowloon in HK.. afterward, upon cleaning the inside of my nose (pardon! but there's no other way to say it.), there was no carbon.
walking along metro manila road.. as little as 10 minutes.. carbon in nose.

piston has been threatening to do what it threatens to do, for years now..
it's time to put it where it belongs... under the law!

wanna improve metro manila air? tax diesel fuel very heavily! give hefty tax breaks to electric vehicles.

When I was in Japan for graduate study, I got to smell diesel exhaust only once (from a dump truck). I almost got homesick hahaha

Just provide a better alternative and these old jeepneys (buses) will die a natural death.

What are the better alternatives? Trains, trains, trains, trams (maybe).
