how successful are these ordinary people, kaya?

i have workplace mate, who sells online on the side.
"on and off ang kita", sabi niya. "but i'm not about to quit my day job."

    well it takes work

may araw na malakas may araw na mahina

that's the drawback of taking your money out of the bank and using it as capital coz the bank pays too little

    kunwari 2 tao

    pareho sila may 500K cash

ung isa nilagay sa bangko time deposit

ung isa bumili ng used car, inayos konte, at binenta... let's say nag net siya ng 20K or 30K

    then he repeated it

in 6 months naka buy&sell siya ng ilan kotse

it took a lot of work but his 500K grew a whole lot more than the 500k in the bank

sa banco, everyone will make a profit, small though it might be.

    in buying and selling,
    i wonder,
how many will make a reasonable profit, and how many will not?

of course not everyone who goes into business will be successful

    madami nalulugi

if you want higher returns you take more risk

if you have very low risk tolerance then keep money in bank

precisely my point, the first time around.

not everybody has the ability to go successfully into the business.
hence the relatively safer but less profitable institutional money placements.

    actually no

sa bilis ng inflation ngayon everyone's money in bank is losing value

point is those bank products don't beat the rate of inflation now

that's why many people are deploying capital to try to beat inflation

There is an article that I read a few weeks ago about minimum wage and threshold for a family of 5 you must earn this certain amount for you not to be considered poor It is a very low value I bet they did not consider inflation.

Subsistence living definition and meaning - Collins Dictionaryhttps://www.collinsdictionary.com › dictionary › english
Subsistence living definition: Subsistence is the condition of just having enough food or money to stay alive
    What does subsistence life mean?
a : the minimum (as of food and shelter) necessary to support life. b : a source or means of obtaining the necessities of life.
kung subsistence living ang pinaguusapan it doesn't take much money

I read an article before the PSA has a figure if you are earning around 9K (not sure if this is the exact figure) you are not poor because you can still feed a family of 5. Their metrics on being poor is that if you have no food to eat but if you have food on your table then you are not considered poor.

Back in college early, 2000s, there is a lesson in developmental economics, poverty threshold for developing country is people living on a dollar per day.

It was in one of the text books (Todaro yata author nun).
