I've seen the Philippines put down ad nauseam. So what's the solution? No one seems to care or be the first to set the example. Oh well. Just go on living our merry way.
I mean I set the example for my family and relatives. If my relatives want money from me, I can at least dictate my terms to them which is live as clean (and honest) a life as they can. Beyond that and outside of kin, I don't really care anymore.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; December 30th, 2009 at 12:29 PM.

agree. also compare the degree of nationalism between the two countries. i remember the time that there was an asian economic crisis, the koreans even donated their small jewelry to increase the national coffers. kung sa pilipinas nangyari yan, yung mga jewelry ay nanakawin ng mga nakaupo sa pwesto at sila ang yayaman.

i dont think its laziness. more appropriate is "MISPLACED PRIORITIES".
why do we produce something that is more expensive than the one produce in china where our labor is quite cheap in terms of global foreign exchange.
coz we just go to work eight hours a day and dont mind what we produce in those eight hours. basta dumating ang payday thats it.

our labor was cheap when the exchange rate was P55 = $1
when the peso strengthened to under P50 = $1, i know some local contract manufacturers moved to China and Vietnam
i didnt use the word "lazy" coz i know pinoys can be as hardworking as other Asians (lalo na when they work abroad)
i used the term "leisure-oriented" which i think is more accurate
maybe that has to do with pinoys being family-oriented
you are either highly committed to your work or your family
pinoys choose family
which reduces commitment to work
which reduces productivity
which explains our pathetic economic output
other Asians choose work over family
which also explains their countries' staggering economic output
lots of Japanese men die of overwork
it's so common in Japan that they even have a term for that -- karoshiLast edited by uls; December 30th, 2009 at 06:35 PM.

Be careful with channels like "China Observer" on YouTube. There is a clear bias in their posts and...
