yes if i was moving up from commuter to car owner i'd buy a 2nd hand car but many 1st time car buyers don't think like me

many want a new car coz they see 2nd hand cars as problematic and of course nandun ung image na new car = successful

just look at tsikot forum dami mga 1st time car buyer nagtatanong which new car pipiliin

karapatan naman nila bumili ng bagong kotse so....

As I read from threads here in tsikot, cars are more expensive in the Philippines, is that correct? Raising prices will not solve it, it will just kill the Auto industry. Dealers & banks will just try to come up with a way to entice people to buy new cars to keep the industry alive.

    wild west kasi ang pinas

regulators are always playing catch up

kung sa umpisa palang meron criteria bago ka pwede bumili ng kotse...

    like meron ka ba parking

o kaya may rule na pag dating sa certain age ang kotse dapat i-scrap na

    sana di nangyari ang ganito

ngayon andami na kotse tsaka mag iisip ng solusyon ang goberyno

    too late

whatever idea the govt comes up with will run into resistance

people will feel their rights are being violated

Isa pa yung magpapalit every 5 years. In European counties, they keep their cars till magsawa, no use for it or ma junk. I dunno, maybe pinoys mindset are really different. In Manila nga, I see sUVs bigger than the gates of their tiny houses. Meron pa ko nakita nakaparada sa gabi sa sidewalk ng Lacson Range Rover.

Wala naman human rights sa Pilipinas. Its more of the law being penned should not affect the lawmaker.

The excise tax did hit car sales diba?

di ko alam latest figures pero after excise tax was implemented bumagsak ang car sales

    -

pero you cannot stop people from wanting a better live / higher standard of living

ung aspiration na gusto din nila magkaroon ng sariling sasakyan... that's a very powerful force

many people work hard / work smart to reach that car-ownership goal --- standing beside a car sales agent handing over the key of their new car

you see it all the time sa fb

kung gumawa ng batas ang gobyerno na you have to bid for the right to buy a car

    like singapore

mangyayari mga pinakamapera lang ang pwede bumili ng kotse

wouldn't you feel the govt is violating your right to own a car?

dapat may law na hanggang 25 years lang mga private cars, i think it will be fair enough na sa mga owners na magamit nila sasakyan nila ng 2 dekada mahigit. tapos mga PUV mas short kasi mas laspag mga yun.

at yun mga ex taxi please lang sana wag na gawin private mga eto. eto dapat pag bawalan.. kahuyin nalang at gawin spare parts. napakinabangan naman na ng mga owners yun mga taxi na yun. not unless 5 years or less lang yun taxi bago ni drop.

although I own a 20-year old car, I have to agree with this. but there are a lot of car enthusiast who still want to keep their classic cars maybe make the registration more expensive for 15+ year-old cars. or as the car gets older, it will be more expensive to register it.

Well, I follow the law. If the law says that, then theres nothing I can do about it. It’s that simple.

"In a report released two days ago, the House of Representatives approved a bill that will increase the said tax by 90%, staggered for the next three years. Penned by Albay Representative, Joey Salceda, alongside the Department of Finance, the reason behind the proposal and its subsequent approval is to “recoup lost revenues due to inflation for the past 15 years”. The last adjustment (to the MVUC) was collected in 2014."

i wouldn't drive my car, if i had an acceptable mass transit system to avail of.
perhaps that is what government should aggressively do: make it attractive to go mass transit. make the car owners choose to voluntarily leave their cars at home.

VAT and excise tax on fuel for example. Let's not forget there's another P1.50/L excise tax hike due in a couple of months. We are just lucky oil prices have tanked thus the prevailing low pump prices despite the taxes.

Increase in Road Users' Tax, sir? The same tax which was proposed to be abolished last year because the Road Users' Board, which oversees the use of the money collected is very corrupt and / or inept in appropriating the money? Good luck. Another obvious money-making shceme of the "best and brightest" in congress.

Yun na nga. Road Board is no more, yet the tax remains. They even aim to increase revenue with this measure. Nasarapan sa collection ang Treasury.
