I'm not hearing any complaints on the ASEAN budget; that it could be used for other means, why not hold it in the province, etc. Where are the anti-APEC tirades we heard previously? Seriously though, security and traffic management will be one priority.

antayen naten ung breakdown ng 15 Billion for ASEAN hahah meron daw kasi FOI : )

Apparently all PH media swallowed stupid pills when Duterte assumed the presidency, and now they just spew out misquotes and outright fallacies.

Is there any relevance being the chairman? Hinde na symbolic lang because PH will be hosting the next summit?

I'm confident it could be something else that has nothing to do with his health, given his temperament. Most likely something to do with his tirade against the U.S. despite them being sided with us re: WPS issue.

ASEAN Chairman 2017: Responsibilities For PH President Rodrigo Duterte

    Quote from article:

The Role of the ASEAN Chairman
The ASEAN Chairman is expected to coordinate with the Member States. The roles include hosting high-level meetings and activities. Additional roles include monitoring and responding to the various challenges.

The chair is also required to declare one major deliverable, that the timely and effective response of the chair to urgent crisis and issues in ASEAN countries is needed.

The chairman will also be representing ASEAN in strengthening and promoting closer relationship with external partners. He is expected to carry out other tasks and functions as may be mandated.

    Good luck, Mr. Chairman.

i think the chairmanship is passed along the countries that will host the next ASEAN summit; this year's host was Laos, Laotian president was the former chair.

i think the chairmanship/hosting is on rotation -- nobody applies, nobody gets elected...although as always, politics plays a part.

Symbolic nga. So not a big deal siguro sa mga 'tards sobrang proud nanaman dahil ASEAN chairman si tatay dugong.

Some people are marketing it like some sort of prestigious award na pinapanalunan...e rotation naman, parang nagbe birthday lang. And like all birthday celebrants, tayo ang taya sa gastusin.
