Our Philippine government should do the same. block these companies from doing business locally. if we let them continue their business locally, we're basically accepting their activities on our islands.

^ surprisingly, dfa head teddy locsin echoed the same idea yesterday (or was it today). a far cry from what he's been declaring for the past 4 years.

could it be possible that he's distancing himself from all the inept madness that's been happening all around him? maybe he knows something we don't.

Senators back proposal to end contracts with Chinese firms involved in West Philippine Sea reclamation | Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Two senators on Friday backed the country's top diplomat after he urged concerned government agencies to terminate contracts with Chinese companies involved in island-building activities in the West Philippine Sea.

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro Locsin Jr. made the suggestion in response to the decision of the United States to blacklist 24 state-owned firms for taking part in militarizing features in the disputed South China Sea, including the West Philippine Sea.

"If I find that any of those companies are doing business with us then I would strongly recommend terminating the relationship with that company," Locsin told CNN Philippines during an interview.

Sen. Ping Lacson, who chairs the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security, said the statement from Locsin was a "long time coming" from the country's top diplomat, according to a a report from The STAR.

"China's display of arrogance by accusing us of infringing on its sovereignty and security by sending military aircraft into air space adjacent to Panatag Shoal/Bajo de Masinloc, urging the Philippines to immediately stop illegal provocations tops it all," he added.

Lacson earlier on Friday also took to Twitter to express his support, offering kudos to Locsin for "putting the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman in his place."

"Banning us from sending our military aircrafts into airspace near Panatag Shoal surely deserves a strong rebuke. I’m proud that our top foreign policy implementor did it," he added.

Sen. Francis Tolentino, who sits as the vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, similarly backed Locsin's suggestion but caveated his support on the chief executive's approval.

"As long as the decision of the [Department of Foreign Affairs] is in line with the president’s independent foreign policy pivot, I truly support the same. It is about time we truly assert our sovereign claims in the West Philippine Sea even through diplomatic means," Tolentino said.

While the senator expressed gratitude towards America for its support, he said the DFA's proposal "should be grounded not because of the recent US pronouncement but because it is in accord with our highest national interests." — with reports from Patricia Lourdes Viray and The STAR's Paolo Romero

    EDITORIAL - Blacklisted | Philstar.com

Without firing a single shot, the United States has sent a powerful message to China about its invalidated claims over nearly the entire South China Sea. On Wednesday, Washington announced sanctions and restrictions on 24 state-owned Chinese companies and their officials for their involvement in the construction of artificial islands in the disputed waters.

The islands now include Panganiban or Mischief Reef off Palawan. In 2016, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague awarded the Philippines sovereign rights over the reef as well as Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal and Recto (Reed) Bank, ruling that the areas were within the country’s 200-mile exclusive economic zone. The PCA, which has 122 contracting party states including the Philippines and China, declared Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal a common fishing ground over which no country may exercise exclusive control.

Equally important, the PCA invalidated China’s so-called nine-dash-line territorial claim over nearly the entire South China Sea. The area being claimed, which includes the West Philippine Sea, is so vast it leaves coastal states around the West Philippine Sea with barely enough area for fishing and other maritime activities.

The 24 blacklisted Chinese companies, some of which are doing business in the Philippines, face trade restrictions in the US. Their officials are barred from entering the US while their relatives may also face visa restrictions.

Washington announced the restrictions as China fired medium-range missiles across the South China Sea on Wednesday, in the latest effort to show strategic dominance and sovereignty in the disputed waters. Beijing has maintained it has peaceful intentions amid its militarization, and has usually responded in kind to economic moves by foreign governments against its interests.

The US and Chinese economies are closely intertwined, and a shooting war between the two countries will be catastrophic for lives and livelihoods. But Washington is showing that there are ways of asserting international rules and demanding responsible actions in the global arena without going to war. The PCA ruling is a powerful tool for advancing the national interest of a country with weak military capability. The ruling must not be left unused, gathering cobwebs in the toolshed.

These pictures are of the graves of the PLA soldiers who were killed in action during the brawl which took place against the Indian soldiers on 15th of June at the Galwan River.

Defensionem has assessed it to verify its validity with its limited knowledge of the respective language. We have concluded that it is authentic if our guesses are correct. As per our rough count, the number of graves is 30+.

PLA did not disclose its casualty count after the brawl took place. However, there were limitless speculations regarding the same.

China has launched a spate of ballistic missiles, including an apparent “carrier killer” weapon, into the disputed South China Sea as part of integrated military exercises apparently simulating a strike on U.S. warships in a warning to the United States.
Experts said Beijing had likely timed the launches as a response to increasing U.S. pressure on China — and to highlight its growing anti-access and area-denial capabilities to prevent the U.S. and others militaries from intervening in its immediate areas of concern.

what were those missiles china tested?

    they're launched from inland

as in far from the sea

they go high up in the sky and...

The Chinese missiles come down vertically from the stratosphere, and US ship defenses are not designed to counter this sort of attack.

kaya ganun ang reaction ng US

the president is unperturbed w/ america's blacklisting of chinese companies associated w/ the construction of the artificial islands in the West Philippine Sea. projects financed by chinois loans will continue as part of the gasping bbb program, namely the cavite city sangley airport project and the kaliwa dam project in quezon province.
