Marcos also noted that the Philippines has “a significant amount of dollar reserves”. Thus, he said, “An option would be, potentially, to sell off the dollar reserves to be able to taper. Tataas pa rin yung value nung dollar pero hindi gaano kalaki (the dollar will still go up in value, but not as much).”
actually pababa ang forex reserves natin

    below $100B

kaya hindi good idea magbenta ng dollars ang bangko sentral para idefend ang peso

let the market determine the dollar's value

    this is Japan's forex reserves

    1.2 trillion

i posted this on Sept 23 sa world economy thread

do you know how much the BOJ spent on that intervention?

    and what did they get?

    nasa 145 ang USDJPY ngayon

di naman nila napalakas ang yen

although hindi na umabot ng 150

Japan had to spend 20B dollars just to prevent USDJPY from going to 150

there's no way PH has enough firepower to defend the peso

so don't waste dollars trying to defend the peso

Japan has 1.2 trillion in firepower

they can keep attackers at bay

    PH cannot

    usually,
it's not how intelligent the audience are,
but how good the speaker is, at explaining at the level of understanding of the audience.

    but i understand his point.
"we're not weak; the other side is just stronger."

The mocking is not due to his explanation, but we were hoping him being a London School of Economics graduate, he would actually give out suggestions/plans to improve the situation and not being Captain Obvious.

ung part na the dollar is strong tama naman

the whole world is feeling the effect of the strong dollar

pero at the same time the peso is also under pressure dahil sa trade gap

    yan hindi binanggit ni sandro

if anyone will bother to check, PH has been importing far more than exports

latest number is 6 billion dollar trade deficit

hindi ako agree sa sinabi niya madami dollars ang Pinas at pwede magbenta ng dollars to defend the peso

PH doesn't have a lot of dollars and using dollars to defend the peso is futile
