yun nga eh.
smartmatic is there to provide an automated system. the security features are there to protect against fraud, but they are not 100% bulletproof. why should they be 100% bulletproof?
because that was not part of the contract. ENSURING clean elections should have been our responsibility and that of comelec's... if the vendor put security systems in there, i bet teddy here would have blown his top just the same (sabihin nya... "you sons of bitches! why was it so hard to vote?? do you think we are a nation of cheaters?? why did you not give your equipment on good faith??")
haay talaga naman. as a guy working in an IT specific area, medyo naiinis lang ako dito. i mean, do y'all use microsoft word to scan for viruses? no? there's a separate product for that right? in the same way that there are various methods to ensure clean elections, all of whom may be beyond the skills of someone who deploys machines.

Software development, if rushed, will always lead to an imperfect product. The coding will be all over the place and the quality assurance tests are circumvented. Hence, the bugs.
Typical of government projects. Politics eat up schedule for production, then at the very last minute, things suddenly clear up and they expect contractors to be able to come up with a solid product.
Meh.
