Well it is stock, we only removed the third row seats and the speedometer is operating properly. With 47+++Kms on the car and well maintained, it did and it can. That's what it really attained and it happened. I'm not that sure though with the RPM's, i barely remember exactly which rpm was the engine running, i think it's between, 3,100-3,800RPM's.
Before we traveled and tried it's top speed, 2 days before, we had it Calibrated, Cleaned the Turbo(they removed the carbon deposits in the Turbo) in a casa, had the fluids changed and changed the Filters. Trust me, it did. once it had a its momentum, it will rocket..

August 5th, 2010 11:11 AM #674Well if it just had its maintenance... I've never imagined that car going over 150-160, unless you had Unichip installed. Did you? Comparably, a stock 2.5D4D Innova would top out at more or less 170km/h. But then, cleaning the turbo and changing the filters really do wonders to a car's performance as I have experienced with our Trooper. But I think if it really reached 178, it would already be somewhere past 4000rpm, near or already at its 4200rpm redline. On a side note, never went past 140 on the Trooper on provincial trips, since that is the highest speed our companion's 2000 Starex (loaded with people, luggage on the roof) could reach.

August 5th, 2010 02:09 PM #675A stock 2.5 D4D Innova can do 190 in perfect conditions. All IMV models are electronically limited to that speed. 170 can be reached relatively quickly, but you'd need a very long stretch to reach 190.
With 5 passengers and luggage, our D4D Innova did 180 once.

August 5th, 2010 07:02 PM #676Does your Innova happen to be a manual? But even so, isn't 190 in the domain of the 3.0 engines already?

August 5th, 2010 11:27 PM #677Nope, it was an automatic. And any IMV can do 190 in perfect conditions, but the 3.0 will definitely reach it quicker. The IMV platform using the 2.0 and 2.7 VVT-i engines are even quicker.

By the way, Nice ride bro!
hmm. i don't really know. Maybe the environment was cooperating with the car too. I did this at around 4am in the morning and the outside temperature was cool, really cool.
One thing i've noticed about Non-Intercooled turbo's are it's ability to reach higher boost pressures and to Maintain that boost pressure in exchange for Turbo Lag. Maybe this is also another reason.
The engine maybe running at higher RPM's than to what i've mentioned. I don't remember exactly which RPM was it running because that time my adrenaline rush was at notch. But i won't forget that it topped at 178Kmh. :D
Drive safe.
