Better have your front differential and transfer case checked!

The Montero is a part-time 4x4, just like most hard-core offroad vehicles. But unlike the high end Land Cruisers or Land Rovers, it has no center differential.

Thus, the 4H and 4L is only designed to be run on mud or slippery surfaces. Running it on a pavement, even when wet, at 4H will cause "binding". Prolonged us will break your front differential and/or transfer case.

I suggest you read your manual again on how to properly use your vehicle.
as i remember , montero sport is equipt with a super select 4wd system ,even at 100kph you can shift to 4h 4wd and i have tried that ..4h for a montero sport is a full time ,,you can use it on slippery surfaces like the paved road

cheers
