to all the 4X4 owners out there, paki share naman ang info and experiences ninyo sa inyong mga babies: model/brand, maintenance, history and headaches, mileage, off-roading, mods, etc. para naman sa mga newbies like me who are interested to know the ins and outs of owning and maintaining a 4X4 rig.
mods, paki merge na lang kung meron ng similar thread.

Too many to mention here or recall :D , ask ka nalang ng particular question, I'm sure the 4x4 peeps here would be more than willing to share their experience and excapades.

thanks, sir afrasay. sige at me tanong ako.
i just saw these on the classified ads:
'93 Nissan Patrol 4x4, 3.3 L diesel, M/T (250K pesos)
'98 lsuzu Trooper 4x4, 3.1 L diesel, M/T (440K pesos)
which is the better buy for daily drive and occasional hard core off-roading activity?

4wd--> well, had a delica before, older jdm-1989..had 2-inch lift, 30x9.5 tires and a slightly modified engine(to give it a good kick pero...at a cost)
pros: tough pajero under-parts, readily avail parts sa local market(as-per-sample), its as high as our elfs, can go 140kph on straight for 13secs...been on the rough&steep-side of la-mesa dam, forged countless waist deep(5'61/2" ako) waters in UST/espanya/sampaloc area..in short i do light off-roading in that van...
cons:since mga unang dating ng conversion yun, di pa ganun kaganda(2000), noon ako lang meron, ngayon kahit san ka mapalingon, may delica na-->mas bago pa! bad a/t, leaky turbo, camber/caster-align every 2 weeks!, 5km/l city.. 9 h-way..thata why after 5 years, palit na muna..pero medyo minalas sa palit... to my currrent ride(see sig nalang kung why....)...kaya sa susunod baka b-new nalang talaga at di na 4wd(mahal e..)
1 advantage nga pala having 4wd is the common gutter, canal and manhole encounters:
maraming pangit ang pagkakagawa ng gutter sa atin, most rwd get stuck..kailangan mo pa ipatulak para makaalis...e kalimitan taga kung humingi ng tip ang mga "tulak-boys"...
ung manhole at canal kung accidente mahulog ka, makakaalis ka din..
about sa tanong mo:

August 1st, 2007 08:27 AM #8Sir,
based on my experience sa 4x4 if yuo want something na pwede all around get a land cruiser..70-80 series..which has a solid axle also yuo can modify it by having aftermarket springs, shocks, lockers, limited slips..this is the best 4x4 where durability and toughness proceeds its name..the under carrieage of this vehicles can withstand even the toughest off-roading..coz weve been using prado and vx diffs here in our 4x4 vehciles, even with tires up to 38'' it can handle the poundings .. for prado 70 series i suggest u get the one with a 1kz 3.0L engine..

patrol na lang. or if you could stretch your budget, get the GQ model. yung safari series.
to start with sa 4x4, ang pinaka-importante ay dapat tiptop shape ang sasakyan. all mechanical parts are in working condition. kung sa roads walang problema, naglalabasan yung mga problema sa trail.

patrol-safari na worth 440T din!
kasi po option mo ung trooper na worth 440t, eto mas ok for me than trooper....
3M Color Stable series are all above 50% TSER. RFID readable through the tint, stays good for...
What's the best car tint brand and color?
