Curiously, are the newer orders of e-jeepneys less "colorful" than the first few? I understand the first few need to stand out from the crowd. But the mainstream units can be less colorful.

I know the batteries are already local.
SO how much did local deep cycle batteries cost? ... still in the P10,000 range?

    Fast Facts:
Switching from diesel-fueled jeepneys to eJeepneys leads to a reduction of 3140 grams of CO2 (carbon dioxide) and 16 grams of NOx (nitrous oxide) per liter of avoided diesel. (each time you ride the eJeepney, you help stop climate change!)
The eJeepney runs on electricity (walang ingay at usok, ginhawa para sa driver at mga pasahero!).
It can accomodate 14 people: 12 at the back and 2 at the front (including the driver).
The eJeepneys are the first public utility vehicles to be issued orange-colored plates by the Land Transportation Office.

we are looking into localizing as much parts as we can. We are talking with the academe to help with research.

we are also talking to Seipi (semiconductor and electronics industries in the Philippines Inc.) http://www.seipi.org.ph/ in order to localize the controllers and wirings.

    isang magandang balita yan!!! kongrats!

    Definitely agree here.

PHUV, Inc., MDJuan have already started the trend in the Philippines through their EVs. As demand for these vehicles increases, more improvements will come.

I hate to sound antagonistic, but in the end the e-jeepney will be charged through electricity generated by traditional power plants. We'd still import a lot of coal and diesel. I hope they'd also push clean electricity.

There are supposed plans to develop a "clean/green" electricity from waste program which I think revolves about bio-gas, but I don't think it's even up and running yet even with the Makati project.

And again, a plan is only as good if it becomes real. Personally I have very little faith in our government so best to keep a close eye on the completion of the project.

More than one way to skin a cat. What is needed is subsidiarity where the beneficiaries set up what is needed.

An area to be serviced by an e-jeepney route can be organized to produce the electricity needed to run the e-jeepneys either with hydro, wind, solar and bio-digester run electric power generation as is available.

There are actually billions of funds presently untapped as not too many know that such funds exist for development projects.

The key is to get areas organized and the main set back are the greedy who'd like to first position themselves for getting the most money and/or power out of the project.

In the case for the E-Jeepney projects, they need a system to directly recharge the batteries. The only viable "green" solution that would fit in a space that can be found in a city like Metro Manila would be something like bio-gas.

The other solutions like solar, wind and hydro are not viable because of the scale required to make it viable.
