Hi Guys, Im a newbie at this site, dami ko natutunan sa kababasa ng mga topics dito ( Very informative site ). Observant lang ako for the past 2 months, ngayon lang din ako nag-post and gusto ko sanang buhayin yung topic regarding sa tampering ng odometer.

Just got a 2nd hand Pizza pie lancer ( 97 model ) El last July 2006, nakuha ko sya sa isang nag-bubuy and sell dito sa Cavite ( I used to work here in Cavite kaya dito na din ako nakakuha ng sasakyan ).

Any ideas kung magkanu palit digital odometer?

I'll be waiting for yor reply guys..

    Many Thanks.

Sir baka yung speed sensor ang medyo may problema. Or yung connection mula sensor to LCD display.

As for now, you can use a time-based maintenance schedule.

    Again, Thank you po..

an advice though.... you can really never know if it was tampered or not of if the sensor is defective. your concern now is to check the parts which might be affected IF the mileage is really 188k kms.

for one, your timing belt is really at risk. even though the previous owner changed that at 90k, another 90k, you are required to replace that.

my advice is for you to immediately perform a visual check of the parts that might need immediate replacement. start with your TBs and your other belts (alternator, aircon, etc.). kung medyo ok pa yan, that means that your sensors are really defective (its really hitting two birds with one stone).

remember, mileage is not only the focal reference point in getting a second hand car. everything boils down to how the previous owner maintains it. a car could only reflect 50k on the odometer, but goes through hours and hours of traffic, which means, more than 50k na natakbo nyan. and a car could only reflect 50k on the odometer, but the previous owner's maintenance habit could be nil (sakay, takbo lang...).

just check on the parts affected (as stated above, the belts, shocks, tires, a/c condition, electricals, etc.)

I'll just try it one of these days na madala sa Casa.

I'll post it nalang din dito sir kapag na-diagnosed na din problema.

    Many Thanks..

    Thanks Sir Happy_Gilmore sa advice.

Yes you're right, actually kinakabahan nga ako kaya dapat talagang ma-check ng mabuti yung kotse para malaman kung dapat na talagang magpalit ng TB.

Hirap talaga kapag 2nd hand ang kotse. Dami sakit ulo..

Hope the problem will be solved in an economic way.

    Thanks and less fuel consumption!

i don't know kung ganyan din ginagawa nila ngayon...

Most car companies sell them as ex-demos at a discounted price.

sa ibang dealership na may consience ganoon gagawin, unfortunately in some cases majority of them sell their car at full price... barena lang nila speedometer, kaunting detailing... ayan... bago ulit...

worse iyun bago sasakyan na naaksidente, nabanga, nawasak... if repairable aayusin nila mabuti tapos ibebenta as brand new at full price din...

prospective clients will never know the difference... even the most experienced one will never know... its after nagamit mo na iyun sasakyan for several days saka pa lang lilitaw ang mga defects...

i know because i used to work in an automotive dealership...

fyi, for all prospective buyer, if you purchase a brand new car then delivered at your house/office, check the odometer, ask for the log/time record from the driver who delivers the vehicle to verify what time the car left the dealership (sa totoo lang iyun mga nagdedeliver sometimes pinapasyal nila iyun kotse bago madala sa client), and inspect the whole car inside and out in a clear daylight check also the ashtray... if they delivered the vehicle in the evening expect there is a problem... should you see the problem even a minute one don't accept it, don't sign anything and have them returned the unit... then go to the dealership the next day and complain and ask for a different car, and preferably pick the car up yourself...
