I bought a 97 civic last december 2001, ang reading is around 38000 but now it reaches to around 50000. nung pumalo ito ng 48000, umangat na ng konti yung 100K nya (meaning yung 148000 ; yung 1 umangat konti) ngayong 50970 na, totally angat na yung 1) nagin 150970 kaagad ang reading ko...tampered kaya???....so far wala akong ka problema-problema sa kotse...nakakaasar lang tingnan yung meter). nangyari na ba ito sa inyo?

most probably tampered na yan. Ive never heard of anyone having that kind of problem na hindi inatras yung reading sa odometer.

netoy, digital ba odo like in pizza lancers? if digital, although pwede na ring i-tamper yun, hindi pwedeng umangat ng konti yung 1 as in 100,000.

for non-digital odo's. risks for tampering are higher, pero in your case, since 97 yung model ng oto mo, i don't think tatakbo kaagad yan ng 130k ++ kms. so possibly if non-digi yung odo mo, baka may mishit lang yung gears ng odo resulting in misreflection of figures.

    Naku, marami talagang mandaraya ngayon.

wala kasing centralized vehicle history info. service dito sa pinas kaya the chance is really slim to find out if your odometer has been tampered. alam ko sa states ay puede kang maka-access ng vehicle history sa carfax.com

tingin ko lang ha... may possibility na tampered sya and during the process (whether naatras or not) nabali ang gearing ng left most digit meaning di kumagat sa one or two gears nya, necessitating a longer turn from the 2nd digit (ten thousand) before umandar yung hundren thou gear...

im not saying na inatras sya, coz 30+K pwede na for a 97... but tingin ko sinubukan atrasin

I agree with you guys, malamang tampered na iyan...

There are ways to tamper na hindi forcefully gagalawin yung mismong odometer, especially for cable-driven speedo and odometers. Your best bet is to be wary and thoroughly check the history of the vehicle.

may carfax nga pero may disclaimer ang carfax.com na yung reported mileage lang (via dealership, DMV, SMOG checks) ang guaranteed sa kanila na actual mileage has been reported. There's another way to tamper an odometer. Pinakamadaling gawin sa HONDA kse sila ang maraming spare parts including JDM Gauge Clusters.

    sampol:

kahit Digital ODOMETER, pwedeng i-tamper. same process as the above.
