i have a problem with my brakes.. i have no brakes!!!
actually there's a leak somewhere, it's bleeding brake fluid like crazy. and the brakes are very weak. driving this thing is a scary experience..
went to banawe today, but i got there too late. banawe is pretty far from makati/taguig when you don't have brakes (or, very weak brakes).

February 11th, 2006 08:47 PM #3suggestion lang bro... kahit na siguro di na sa speedyfix mo yan ipagawa. kahit sa mga mekaniko lang na malapit sayo pwede na. dont get me wrong. i have nothing against speedyfix. masyado lang delikado ang bumiyahe ng mahina/sira ang preno. baka mas malaki gastos at perwisyo sayo kung maaksidente a trying to get to speedyfix.

February 11th, 2006 08:59 PM #4bka wheel caps ang problem.
agree with sirkosero, can be done by local brake shops, or nearby servitek outlets

good idea... actually malapit na si speedyfix compared to my suki in banawe.
are servitek outlets open on sundays?
my problem is, duda ko master cylinder or calipers are leaking. those are bloody expensive to replace (i don't suppose nag-re-repair kit ang servitek). one front caliper for this car is 8k in banawe, God knows magkano sa mga servitek etc..

Modern vehicles use a diagonally-opposed dual circuit braking system. The chances of a full brake failure is next to zero. Kung matigas ang pedal, baka naman yung hydrovac assist lang ang nawala. But you still have the same brakes. You just need more muscle.
If you cannot find the leak, malamang sa master cylinder na iyan and not the rubber wheel cups. May repair kit naman ang master cyclinder. May caliper rebuild kit din. No need to spend to much. Kayang kaya ng speedyfix iyan.

the pedal is really soft. it almost bottoms out. master cylinder nga ang suspect ko eh. but it was repaired at the casa two months ago! i have no idea magkano ang new master cylinder, pero the clutch master is like 4500. i'm of a mind to replace the damnable master cylinder because if a casa repair with OEM repair kit parts only lasts two months.. (and cost 4000..)
the hydrovac works, kasi pag off yung engine medyo matigas (medyo lang!)Last edited by orly_andico; February 13th, 2006 at 12:20 AM.

actually i have no idea bakit umaandar pa nga yung brakes nito eh... because how can it work when there's no brake fluid? that's why di na ako lumabas today. scary baka biglang bumigay. OTOH the comprehensive insurance would more than cover it and i'd be rid of a maintenance hog.
the thing is, the brakes still work but the pedal has to be bottomed. and the brakes are weak. i crawl along in 2nd gear now (3rd gear at most). i guess sobrang tipid na ako mag-drive ngayon. but -- if i REALLY floor the brake, it induces wheel lock ALL THE TIME (even at 10kph). like i said, i have no idea why the brakes still work...
anyway i think i'll just drop it off at Rapide ($$STEALERS$$ that they are.. ilang beses na akong na-ream ng mga yan, kaya i hate the idea) tomorrow morning. i don't have any time kasi to take it to speedyfix or banawe.

To give you an idea, a brand new OEM Suzuki Vitara master cylinder costs Php 8,000.00. That's from the Suzuki specialist in Banawe.
If you are going to go with a repair kit. Make sure the shaft it runs on is still smooth and free of corrosion. Otherwise, the repair kit will not work. And repair kits in Banawe rarely exceed Php 1,000.00. I just forgot the preferred brand. Seiken, I think?
