6? 7? Is this bar? Or 6:1?
Either way, those compression figures are very very low. That car does need an overhaul.

August 16th, 2006 08:39 PM #13Try Autovec along E Rodriguez near EDSA. Its on the left coming from Magnolia House before reaching the Aurora overpass. Look for Burger Machine stand beside its blue gate.
Look for the german Werner Reimer, he has surplus engines.

a 5-series of that age probably has a residual value in the 250k range if in good condition. but in that condition.. wala na sigurong bibili unless they have the same car and kakarnehin nila parts niyan. which is also your option.
it might not be cost-effective to repair it anymore even if you can find a cheaper source of the cylinder head block. buying on ebay certainly is an option but the shipping cost will kill you. and you have no guarantee that the engine you'll get is not also suffering from loose compression.
figure the engine to cost at le ast $1000 plus drop-shipping to your freight forwarder perhaps $200. it's the US-PH cost which will really get you. The cheapest quote I got was from Johnny Ocean Cargo, $25 per cubic foot but it would take 3 months and someone would have to drop it off at Johnny Ocean Cargo office.
plus that's a 5-series. an E30 would be around the same age but probably easier to maintain.

marami na akong nabili sa ebay. two haynes manuals (nasama sa dyaryo-bote yung una, so bili ako ng isa pa..) optical stuff, a telescope mirror... but no car parts (yet).
depende lang sa feedback yan eh. i'm planning to buy a distributor from this dealer on ebay. $220 lang yata sa kanya for a brand-new one with warranty (although US warranties are useless here, kasi talo ka kung ipaship mo pabalik balik), local Banawe price 25k (three years ago!) and casa price 50k+. kaya worth it na rin.

On my way to Caloocan, I was driving along C3. Just before Rizal Ave. is a surplus shop. Guess what I saw, BMW front cuts! More than 3 were there. Sorry, hindi ko nakita kung anong model. Parang older 5 series siya.

Hindi ako BMW expert. Ang hirap makilala kung walang body. Front bumper to firewall yung nakadisplay. Patong-patong. Baka dun ulit route ko bukas.
