    guys,

last year i had my timing belt replaced! for the past months i didnt noticed any unusual from my engine bay, not until recently, where there appears to be some kind of oil leaking from the top of my piston ring case (where the spark plugs and HT wires are) its leaking from the four bolts that locks the pistong ring case (?)....

i went to Servitek in west ave to have it check.... they just put some kind of a sealant in it (orange ang kulay).... but it lasted only for 2 days... balik na naman yung tagas!

you think i should replaced the bolts... sabi kasi sa servitek.... the bolts daw are assembly, di kaw pwede yung gasket lang palitan....

pleas help... baka kaya ko pa i-diy!

    txs

I'm not really sure where that piston ring case is located. All I know is, parts from top part are valve cover, cylinder head, cylinder head gasket then engine block.

Common remedy for leaks are high-temp sealants, but most color I've seen and used is colored red.

Ano ba car mo?

Sir ungas, censya na i'm a total moron when it comes to engine terms... malamang VALVE COVER siguro tawag dun... yun yung binuksan nung nag palit ako ng timing belt, pag bukas kita mo yung langis...

Anu ba yung 8-bolt pattern....

Primary culprit would have to be oil seals, iba pa po ang timing belt cover sa engine valve cover. But in your case, when you opened it and has oil in it, this will probably your engine valve cover. Timing belt side of engines should be dry and free from any dirt, debris and oil. Sealant will not work on moving parts of your engine. But then again maybe some bolt retorque will save you more.

I don't know about Honda gaskets.

And do not overtorque the bolts (huwag sobrang higpit).

    txs to all!

Just remind the mechanic not to overtighten.

If you 'squish' the gasket too much. Sira na iyan.

    rule of thumb:

when something has a rubber gasket, there is no need to add a lot of silicone sealant to it. (i.e the valvecover/oilpan/etc). kung tama yung gamit na gasket this should be able to seal by itself without the help of sealant pa.

crossback, feel free to pass by the shop to have that replaced. once matigas na yung valvecover dapat di na lagyan ng sealant yan and palitan na sya agad ng gasket. also, be sure to have them clean the valve cover well para walang remnants ng old gasket which will cause the new one to seal improperly .
