wow... this is so dangerous sa highway.
pero I'm more interested sa 0-60 nya for local city roads use. based on experience with entry level sub-compact cars, mahirap talaga yung 60-80-100 nila.

sa totoo lang. I find it annoying na may displacement requirement and motorcycles to use local toll roads pero sa cars wala. IMO, 1L (naturally aspirated) and below should not be allowed to use the highways din kasi their acceleration is not fast enough.

here's the acceleration curve of the EV that i've been developing, optimized for low-speed so the acceleration really drops off at around 50kph and up. but it'll lift the front wheel at full throttle from a stop
maybe the vf3 is like this too. it's 5.3 seconds to 50kph btw

I believe the motorcycle requirement is for stability reasons rather than acceleration besides the ~1.0L 4-wheelers are probably still faster to 100 than the fully laden L300s, Trailer trucks and UVs. A Higher minimum speed in the outermost lanes is probably more achievable.

then why are we the only country that has the 400cc requirement? even CCLEX allows 125cc bikes
if smaller bikes are so dangerous, why do we allow them on non-toll highways?
modern motorcycles (even scooters) can maintain 60-80km/h easily and their acceleration is way better
as a driver myself, I find it more dangerous to drive small displacement cars in the highway as their engines does not give you room for any errors especially when overtaking.

September 18th, 2024 10:27 PM #58i once heard a live interview over the radio, wherein the authority figure was asked why they set 400 cc displacement for bikes as requirement for slex-legal.
his answer, "we just pulled that figure out from the air."
i have a wigo with 998 cc displacement. i drive it on slex on a regular basis. as long as we do not drive like schumi, ok naman ang acceleration. it holds its own.

Based on this article, I don't think the 400cc figure was pulled out of the air. It was deliberate.

September 18th, 2024 11:08 PM #60nice article.
i did not know that rocky fella had something to do with it.
it narrates the story why motorcycles were banned from the expressway.
but your quoted article did not state why they dictated 400 cc as the minimum engine size.
why not 250 cc, 395 cc, 399 cc, 500 cc, 660 cc, 1200 cc...?Last edited by dr. d; September 18th, 2024 at 11:17 PM.
