Performance-wise, the Montero isn't quite up there with the Fort or Eve. The 3.0s in the Fort and Eve are much more muscular than the Montero's 3.2, and they both handle better (the old "super-stiff" Fort did... don't know about the "softer" one)... but sharp handling and power are not what you want in a tall off-roader that's likely to roll over if you drive like a maniac.

Not really. There are more Corolla Altises and L300s than anything else on the road. And while the Altis is decent, it's definitely not the best (durability-wise or performance-wise) and the L300 is plain wretched.

In this case, though... the Montero deserves its popularity. It's very civilized compared to the Ev or the Fort, and the interior is a big step up from the Fort.

Yes, the looks are kind of anonymous... but are you going to be driving to work outside the car looking at it, or inside it enjoying the comfortable interior and ride? (not quite as good as a soft-roader, but definitely a step above and beyond the rest of the class, and better than some of the middling soft-roaders.)

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
