I stumbled upon old Mercedes Benz T1 and their history (up to the discontinuation part).
I believe this Cargo/Delivery van was very popular in the 80's. It was reliable and durable because it's a Mercedes carrying an OM family of engines.
What I didn't know is that a manufacturer from India, Force Motors bought the technology. And here is a picture of their version.

So I went looking for prices and I was shock to find out.

I wonder why it wasn't introduced here? It could kill the L300! lol.iam3739.com

Pansin ko lang....the Indians are developing their automotive industry by acquiring "old" designs and technology that could still be applied in 3rd world countries...and from there slowly improving it.
It worth emulating.
Tayo still stock in the "jeepney" design --low ceiling, high chassis, bench-type of seats...ang nagbago lang yon bumper extenders and mga nakadikit sa hood...instead of horses, lots of lights or an array of horns!

August 25th, 2010 11:57 AM #5Nice! Wish they'd take it here! Hell the jeepney wasn't even OUR design. It was just old WW2 era American Willys Army jeeps made to ferry more passengers.
I have P15 and P16 if anyone interested.
