for mechanical department - diesel power, turbines, pumps, cranes and lifting equipment, compressors, etc. sa electrical/electronics dept - electronics measurements and calibration, electrical switchgear and DC motors controls, SCR systems, synchronous ac motors controls, plc programming and automation, etc, etc. sa mga malalaking oil rigs meron pang hydraulics engineers saka electronics technicians, dami na kasing equipment dun. meron din subsea department (blow out preventer valves, etc) saka barge dept (marine engineering grads and able seaman) pag sa drilling department naman usually petroleum o kaya mining engineers dun. pero mga old timers na drillers karamihan high school graduate lang (na may utak). experience after all is worth more than education lalo na mostly hands-on ang petroleum drilling industry.

dagdag ko sa sinabi ni nightrock na trabaho ng wireline operator: logging-while-drilling, well logging, well perforation (using explosive charges), well testing and flaring.

Yan Rodech I heard is mahal but once you completed your training ay may job placement naman agad sila

Heard that Seadrill revised their salary scheme and paying their employees on regional basis na and because of that sabi daw medyo bumaba ang rate. Is it happening din ba sa company nyo?

Yes mostly local hires na ang kinukuha nila as SO sa onshore, but sa offshore well experienced expats talaga ang kinukuha nila bukod pa sa sea survival trainings, especialty in fire and gas tsaka emergency response. sa construction safety engineers tayo makaka-qualify, weakness ng locals eh communication kaya pupwede kahit limited experience basta fluent sa english at pc literate for documentations.

Those they hire as Safety Engineers, actually engineering graduate with technical or operations background in oil/gas/energy field plus some safety related training certificates. Most of the time office related ang duties, developing safety management system, audit documentations, procedures, reports etc. while the safety officers are fulltime in the site.

Question to all OFW Tsikoteers especially to those working in the oilfield
