Not necessarily terribly matagtag... just more so than 55 series.
The difference in weight between 50-55 series tires of the same make and model is a mere 1-2 pounds per tire. If there is any. You're only losing a strip of rubber less than half an inch tall around the circumference of the tire. And worse, if the model you buy in 195/50 is naturally heavier (say, it has a rim protector, since it's a low profile tire), then it may even be heavier, despite being smaller.
This is not to say lightweight tires are not worth it, but that going down in size is not a guarantee that the tires will be lighter.Last edited by niky; September 26th, 2012 at 06:19 PM.
