The thermostat is there for a reason......and a good one.
Avoid mechanics who rush into removing it unless it's the defective part.
Sumisingaw? me butas ang radiator?
Solution is to get it patched.
Maybe it's a "pinhole". You don't see the leak easily....but under pressurized conditions it will manifest.....then you lose coolant , result is overheating.
Get your radiator to a radiator shop and have it inspected, cleaned if needed.
Eliminate possible causes one by one starting with the radiator which is prime suspect in your case, IMHO.
Good luck

Your car is nearly two decades old. There is a number of stuff that can go wrong with a car of that age. One is rust clogging up the tiny tubes in the radiator. Another is a faulty water pump.

Maitanong ko na rin po, san po ba pwede buli ng radiator ng Series 3? Ano po ba ang mas maganda yung Brand New o yung Surplus? Thanks!

ikot ka lang sa banawe meron nyan.
punta ka kay speedyfix (search mo na lang ung map sa google), trusted shop dito yun. pag pinakalas mo yung radiator, sabay papalit mo na yung waterpump, timing chain, thermostat and the 2 electric fans.
bring the old radiator and fans with you when you go around banawe. punta ka mga surplasan, pakita mo yung dala mo sila hahanap ng compatible for you. tawad ka sa presyo, mga 500 ang ibawas nila per piece or so. balik ka kay speedyfix, kabit nila yun, and you're good to go.
