CUVs would be a step above like the Explorer...

Masikip din 3rd row ng Explorer. Pati LC masikip din actually 3rd row. I was surprised when I rode and drove these cars.

Only minivans and dedicated people carriers have comfortable 3rd rows for long trips.

A minivan is a good vehicle for long drives, even better if you have those captain seats as the aisle space can be used for bags and other stuff. If gas expense is not a big issue, a full size SUV is also comfortable for long drives if you need to haul more than 5 people.

We used a Dodge Caravan on our trip before from Chicago to Pinehurst. I used the Expedition for a ski trip to Wisconsin with 7 of us including our gear.

agree. 3rd row seats are better reserve for small kids. adults may find it uncomfy for long trips. i have both montero and explorer. i have not seen the new terra though and other ppv's

Noone buys a Land Cruiser for its 3rd row space. It's there if you need it, but people who have Land Cruisers tend to have other people carriers when they really need to ferry 7.

Actually, the same can be said for PPVs. We like to compare 3rd row space but most of the time, you don't seat 7 with your PPV. Most families who know they have to ferry lots of people frequently go for vans.

3rd row space is a lot like horsepower - people love to compare it on the internet, but in actual use it doesn't play a pivotal role for most people.

My taking pictures of 3rd rows started as a curiosity because I noticed people spend a lot of time arguing about 3rd rows of their beloved PPVs/MPVs.

So since I have a lot of time on my hands, I tried out the 3rd rows of all the common PPVs/MPVs just for the heck of it.

Conclusion: they all have compromised 3rd rows and are better off left for kids and small folks.

I like the Innova's 3rd row the most among the MPVs/PPVs because at least it has a good seating position and enough legroom and shoulder room for 2 people (it's marketed to seat 3 at the 3rd row but don't bother). That said, the Innova's 3rd row is still not as spacious as a Starex's or Carnival's. Far from it.

MPVs like the Mobilio, Rush, and Xpander actually have comparable 3rd rows to PPVs. In fact the budget MPVs have more 3rd row space than the cramped SUVs (Montero, CRV).

But going back to the big picture - since it's universal that the 3rd row isn't the best place to be in, other aspects of the car are far more important - price, aesthetics, durability, aftersales, resale value, features, power, ride comfort, fuel economy, handling and so on.

jut, with this pic of yours sa LC200, i can say mas ok pa 3rd row comfort ng new santa fe with my size 5'7", providing moving the 2nd row with an ample space for my knee.
