Knowing Nissan... The old GT-Rs were very expensive, even in Japan... they sold roughly at the same price as Porsches, I think...

There could be hope, though... a $50k Skyline with 500++ hp would be very very tempting...

nissan GTR vs. porsche TT best bang for the buck pa rin and GTR even if they sell it for $70+k. For some reason i havent seen a porsche with 1000hp.

    9ff has a street-legal one, I think, at 800 hp.

Most top-tune street-legal Skylines are in the 700-800 hp range.

But it's true, the Skyline's engine is legendarily strong when it comes to turbocharging, and a 2.6 at 1000 hp is a little more impressive than a 3.6 at the same power...

If only the transmissions could survive that much power... a lot of Skyline drag racers spend a lot of time buying new trannies... ...must be a Nissan thing, a lot of turbo- SR20 boys (back when I was with the Nissan club) had the same problem...

yeah stock Rb26 bottome end can handle up to 600hp beyond that you need to rebuilt it.I guess to achieve 1000hp you have to bore or probably resleeved the wall so it's goin to be probably 2.7 or 2.8l.

Never heard of trans problem probably skylines here are *rare* they don't even drag it .I know somebody with 600whp+ 350z daily driven, drag abuse without trans problem.

I think modern Nissan trannies are more reliable.

SR20 trannies go all the time. The SR20Development Sentra has a back-up vehicle that carries spare transmissions for drags... the trannies are already cryo-treated, and they still break!

But I digress, transmission problems only occur because these vehicles are delivering around 3 times what the stock engines were built for... the 350z's transmission is probably built to handle lots of torque, so it should last longer.
