Blame the almost utter lack of progress in LTO for classification, but most ATVs are definitely not designed for on-road use. Not enough braking, gearing not suited for on-road use (gears too short) and a soft and bouncy suspension built for off-roading, which can lead to rollovers in violent maneuvers.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Currently, you can't register and use ATVs on public roads.

Our business is into importing ATVs from China and since day one, we haven't able to register it. It is prohibited to be of use in public roads. Another, standard tires for ATV at least for what we are carrying prematurely wears if used on asphalt/tarmac than if used in grass or sands. Excessive caster angle = terminal understeer and strong self centering.

Actually, even the Japanese ones can roll over if you do violent maneuvers.

ATVs really aren't built for road use... period. There are those that are built for road use, as well as the UTVs that can carry multiple passengers and have more power... but the LTO doesn't have the knowhow to classify them.

Should be pretty simple. Does the driver sit inside it or on top? Inside, classify it as a car... must meet all requirements of a car. On top, classify it as a motorcycle, and it must meet all requirements of a motorcycle. Tapos!

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
