I'm also not a fan of chromes. And taking out the chromes is always the first mod that I do on my vehicle. And I make it permanent. Even the emblems on my car are painted matte black, heck even the chromes inside my headlight ay hindi nakakaligtas hehehe. Almost all chromes in my vehicle will have to be soaked on a muriatic acid/hydrogen peroxide solution. Pero kanya kanyang trip lang yan. Some folks nga kulang pa stock chrome garnish sa kanila so they try to add pa.

Yup, much older cars, mostly 1970s and below when most of the chromed parts were metal.

Nowadays chrome colored bits are used more as accents. They still look good pa rin naman, it depends on where they are. It's only when you put them everywhere that it becomes gaudy.

Not the color Cath. The two colors you mentioned are actually my two favorites.

Imagine the antenna in the picture and put 6 more of them on the roof.

But I totally agree with whistler that chrome looks good on old cars.
Alam mo, mas matitrigger ka kung makita mo ang ganyang mga chrome garnish sa tear drop tail lights ng montero than any other ppvs you would see with those kinds of accessories.

Just my opinion, but I think chrome accents is an Asian thing. With modern European & American cars, chrome is just a subtle addition, but does not dominate. Old or classic cars should really have chrome, since cars back then had real metal bumpers & other chrome accents (like hub caps) that would rust if not chromed. My very first car, a hand me down 1972 Dodge Colt, had chromed metal bumpers. I even had it re-chromed when I restored it. But at that time, sporty cars like the Ford Escort (my dream car) had painted bumpers since these were considered sporty. Chromed cars were considered standard.
