if you have Gen 1 you can use your 4L going up. since your car is eqipped with manual locking hubs and if you dont lock it only the rear tires will have traction so there wont be binding on your drivetrain. power will be transmitted to the front diffs but they will not be transmitted to the front wheels since the hubs are unlocked.

Ok - follow the suggestions of warming up the engine properly (especially if you are going to charge up the driveway), having your clutch checked - it could be sliding, or checking your driving style - is your foot still on the clutch even when the vehicle is in gear?

If everything checks, then you can use 4H. Its just for a short duration and practically a straight line up right? However you will have to get off the vehicle to engage your hubs (lock/ 4x4) before you ascend and get off one more time to disengage (free/4x2).

Best thing to do is to keep the hubs free (4x2), shift to 4L and drive up on 1st / 2nd. No momentum will be required as you are employing your vehicle's lowest gear, and (as a benefit) not stressing your engine. Essentially you are on 2L (2 wheel drive Low), because the front wheel/axles are disengaged.

    Try it and enjoy.

try to heat up the engine muna para d mabigla..
mahirap umakyat from a cold start..

    when im in baguio..
    bago ako lumabas..
pinapainit ko muna yung sasakyan bago ko isabak sa akyatan..
mabagal po talga mag-respond yung sasakyan
kapag hindi pa nag-heat up ung engine..

    my two cents..

(starex TDI po yung ride ko..same engine ng Paj..
ganun din po yung ginawa ko nung minsang dala ko yung Paj ng Dad ko.)
