Just started a new job in a coal mine west of Brisbane and this is the land of the Hilux. The Triton looks very lonely in the car park surrounded by 20 or so new Hiluxs and a couple of Navaras .
I have been driving the Navara ( 75000kns on the clock)around the mine site until the Triton get the proper light set up installed.
I am not impressed with it. I keep stalling the motor on takeoff because it has no low down talk compared to the Triton. The ride is the same bit the seats are a bit better. Although after setting in the Navara seats for an extended drive (250km) I was getting a bit uncomfortable. The triton seats after 95000kms fit me perfectly and are very good over a long drives.
The Navara drives more like a petrol engine vehicle and revs up to 5000rpms. About the same noise level as the Triton but a bit quieter at idle. It used more fuel than the Triton about a 100kms less under the same conditions per tank and the lack of torque is noticeable at higher revs . The motor seems to work a lot harder than the Triton for the same results and I would suspect ware out a lot quicker. The gear box to is a bit mushy when changing and has long throughs between gears, but it doesn’t have a transfer case gear stick to get in the way. (Switch on the dash)
I haven’t driven a Hilux yet for any extended amount of time to compare it with the Triton, but no doubt that time will come.
I am glad that I have the opportunity to compare the vehicles under the same working conditions.
If the New Triton motor is anything like the Navara I won’t be buying one next time around and that may be sooner than later with the lengthy kms. that I am clocking up getting.
I won’t be buying a Navara and I may have to jump the fence to a new Hilux and chip it with one of Monsters DMS Piggy Back or go to the new Challenger if it come out with the 3.2 diesel or even a Pajero.
Only time will tell.

actually the best way to get good reviews for pickups and suv's is ty to look for user comments especially from those who are engaged in heavy construction(ie minning, quarrying, land devekopment) kasi sila ang may pinaka abusado na mga sasakyan sa balat ng lupa!!! believe me, iv'e gone trhu a couple of vehicles in a few years because of the wear and tear due to my nature of work, same comments din mga tropa ko sa australia and uk. yung isang mining company sa australia established a fleet of 30 tritons and 30 hilux to see which one was better. ang comment daw was halos hindi nagkakalayo yung performance. mas maganda lang daw d hamak ang ride ng strada pero parang mas pang abuso ang hilux. with regards to engine may bias na daw sila talaga with the 4D56 platform, since it's been around for so long na din

oo nga sir arvin hehehe.....I was just wondering lang kung bakit ng vavarie yung mga engine spec to be specific yung HP and torque kada country eh same engine platform lang naman sila....If I remember nga, nabasa ko one time...may 4d56 na rated 200hp stock pa, I just don't know if aussie spec or brit spec...

to answer your question... mababa na ang FC papunta sa 2nd venue kasi wala na halos traffic ng ganung oras... wag lang titigil si eslonblue sa gitna ng daan para kausapin ng maayos yung nag-cut na kotse sa kanya. nabigla siguro yung batang driver kasi puro strada yung nakapalibot sa kanya, hehehe. but it turned out well naman, nagflying kiss na lang si eslonbaun, ehe, si eslonblue pala

sa ride naman papunta sa 2nd venue, maganda at smooth ang suspension ng strada, lalong lalo na kapag excited lahat at nasa formation ng convoy

The new manufactured tires (Sept/Oct) priced at 208USD, but if already passed a year, it's a bargain. Take note of the importance of the tire expiry date (4 years only from date of manufacture).
Our company does not allow using expired tires for our service trucks for safety reasons especially when we're at middle east. Tires for hot countries are classified at TEMPERATURE GRADE A while at tropical are GRADE B.
dito sa atin kahit expired tires hindi masyado critical dahil walang extreme hot temperature.

had my my carryboy bed cover installed on my strada..but i lost the spare key sa lock. san nakakapag pagawa ng duplicate nito? ibang klase yung key at thread eh. hindi kaya ng Mr.quickie....

Hello sir, I'm not too sure what extent of support does Carryboy provide for after sales because i knew of someone who got his canopy's read windshield smashed and had some difficulty getting another one from carryboy. But nonetheless, may i know if the key came with a number? AFAIK, the key of Carryboy products is different- quite similar to Honda's Wave Key wherein the i looks straight and the curves are imbedded on it. probably carryboy can provide you with a duplicate. also, perhaps the best and play safe answer i can give u is you might want to consult with carryboy mismo, it might require the replacement of the lock itself too. we will never know who took you original key. HTH.

i totally agree with ian, best bet is to call carryboy and inquire from them.

I've tried Big Bert's Optiguard, ok naman siya.

Kung isang taon na sasakyan mo, puede pa din naman ipa-paint protection sa Big Berts, exterior detailing muna ang gagawin dyan para mawala yung mga swirl marks and mga tiny scratches... pero yung mga malalalim, hindi na kaya sa detailing.

After lurking in the Strada thread for more than 5 months or so, I have finally come to a point of purchasing my own Strada. Yehey. A week after talking to my sales agent, she told me earlier my loan was already approved and that I can get my unit this week (Thursday or Friday) after making the payment and processing the rest of the paper works. Before I get too excited and reckless in buying accessories for it, I would like to become a member of the Strada club and be part of a group with good people in it and also take advantage of the privileges that come along with the membership. Can someone please point to me where I can download the membership form and also tell me where and when can I submit it?

wow..this week, dami meron new Strada. Great choice sir. Please also make sure that the unit you get is the 2010 and not the 2009 version, unless mas gusto ninyo yung 2009 look.
