ng Fort. the lines, the design makes you wanna think its a a different SUV all over.

if the Fort copied its back from the innova, then Fort is just a Hilux with a roof. wala man lang effort sa design, kinuha yun harap ng strada, kinuha yun back ng fusion then raise up to make it look like a rugged SUV truck.

the Ford Explorer Sport Trac cant be recognized with the Ford Explorer SUV pero pickup model niya ito.

but this is better than the previous Montero Sport, the Alterra and the Everest (all with roof versions of their pickup models), except when you're at the back of this car in traffic talaga it doesnt scream SUV at all

i've been an SUV-lover since I can remember and i've got 3 SUVs at home. this car, mainam lang talaga alternative sa alterra

Lastly, the engine bay doesn't looks bad at all, it's at-par with modern diesel engine design and outlook,..just my oipnion. :D

    Cheers!
our family's 1 yr. old starex grx crdi comes with maint free batt. and considering more than 10 years design na ito, at least the local distro cares about you not having to buy that measurement device that you dip in each of those holes once or thrice a month.

i believe if I remember correctly the Chevy Captiva Diesel version 4x2 has a maint free batt and it's even cheaper than this .

Back up sensors are standard for both variants.

Available only in the GLS SE, limited slip diff allows the transfer of power or torque to wheels that have less traction. The GLS will get the standard 4WD where a four wheels rotate at all times.

but comparing it with vehicles in its segment, namely the fortuner, alterra and everest ( all thai built) then you will find that all use non-MF batteries

Saw this in person yesterday, had to stop and inspect it personally when I passed by Mitsubishi in Makati.

    My complains:
    1. First thing I checked was the trunk, bigger than my Sta.Fe but the 3rd row aircon was only on one side. I also have to mention how cheap the trunk cover/tool cover was made. They were held down by velcros and it didin't fit properly. I was tapping those things and they were already making sounds (kalampag) just imagine how bad they are when you're driving them. I thought this was an isolated case but the other display unit also had this problem.

    2. 2nd row seats are uncomfortable, its like you're sitting on a pickup (when your knees are higher than your hips) and not on an SUV. It might be fine for short drives but I can't imagine sitting there for out of town trips. The roof is also kinda low and I'm not a tall person (5'9").

On the outside it looks great. I haven't checked the dimensions but looks bigger and longer than a Fortuner.

Same length as the Fortuner but shorter in height (about 50mm) and width (about few mm)

saw my uncle's new montero sport w/c was delivered awhile ago.(he's the first one daw to be able to roam the streets of the metro, sa monday pa daw talaga pwedeng maglabas.) it looks cramped compared to my fortuner but the dashboard looks cool and hi-techy.(mukhang may bluetooth connection pa nga, di ko pa lang na-confirm.) but it looks really cramped. parang outie or santa fe perhaps. it has the same engine with pajero(3.2 D-ID) daw.(4x4 variant).di ko pa lang natry yung ride pero parang ang ingay ng engine niya(or gabi lang at tahimik na). mukhang maliit din yung luggage space.i like it more than my fortuner pero di kasi fair yung laban, maybe pag nakabili na ako ng projector type eagle eyes. pero parang no match siya sa facelifted fortuner imo.

I remember a while ago when i was test driving the unit (GLS SE)... eh wala naman maingay especially sa lubak even when the seats are folded FLAT. It drives smoothly. Better test drive it nalang so you get the chance to see and hear the difference than just tapping those stuff. ^_^

The things i didn't like that much about the new montero sport are the rear aircon vents which is similar to the fortuner and the head room is kinda short if a person 6'0" tall would ride it. The 3rd row is OK for me and i think better leg room than the fortuner...

But i like this suv far better than the fortuner, santa fe and alterra... hopefully by this year meron na kaming GLS SE variant.

if this has the engine of the current pajero, then this has something to look forward to after all.

furthermore, if the claim that the 1.4M version has power driver seats then mas ok coz the Santa Fe and The Fortuner do not have it.

i was once a mitsu owner myself. i owned a 2nd gen 4x4 strada for almost 7 years. i am one of those who believe that mitsu diesel is one of the best out there.

but yun nga lang, na-bare-an lang ako talaga sa mga in-dash features nya. and for god's sake, the stereo bakit ganun parang getz lang na di salpak lang. yan ang ayaw na ayaw ko sa strada ko, yun stereo as in ganyan lang. come 8 years later, ganyan pa din ibebenta nila parang hello walang man lang bang improvements in the past years

talo pa siya ng new honda jazz and suzuki swift and even the yaris, all-built stereo sa dash.

    ============

this car real begs STEAL ME all over if even the simplest stereo madaling tanggalin. we all know naman how hot mitsu diesel cars are. siguro naman may immobilizer na ito.

been reading some preliminary first drive impressions on the monty and all were quite impressed with the SUV's ride comfort, handling and off-road capabilities. I guess they paid close attention and addressed the biggest complaint against its biggest competitor, the fortuner.

styling is again subjective so it really depends on what turns you on - blondes or brunettes? as for the features - i believe that mitsu has been very good in loading their recent model intros fully loaded out of the box - again we should compare it to the same models within its segment and determine which offers the best overall package.

at the end of the day- it all boils down to which truck gives the most bang for the buck (not just talking horsepower here). the one that offers the best value for money proposition should be crowned the new king of the hill.

so - do your research, ask for a test drive and decide intelligently. planning to visit our neighborhood mitsu dealer and ask for a test drive. will update you on my observations.

I don't know why there's an issue on MF batteries. I had a honda jazz before with stock MF battery and it died just before 1 year. Now, I have the strada with the same GS brand (non-MF) as shown above and it will be 2 years this November and is still going strong.

Mind you, I haven't even opened the caps yet. Maybe, the casa is doing the maintenance for me

If I'm not mistaken, GS brand is made in Japan.

Anyway, IMHO, the style of this new montero is not complete or satisfying out-of the box, unlike the pajero, strada, outlander, and lancer. It, somehow, needs setting-up to make it look good.
