Those were Firestone Wilderness tires. A lot of them wound up here at rock bottom prices.

    OT:

IIRC, there's one in downtown Vancouver, 1 in Hastings, 1 in Kingsway near Metrotown, 1 in Marine dr, there's another in Broadway, 1 in Langley and 1 in Surrey. There are other branches but those ones i mentioned are the only branches ive been to.

Kaso mahirap maging doctor sa US/Canada. Baka di ko kayanin ang MLE. If ever I have to migrate, gusto ko maging EMT/Search&Rescue.

Hirap yata ang Search & Rescue....medyo harsh ang weather pag nag snow..baka ako pa ang i rescue kung saka sakali..hehehe

Hirap nga pag dr ka na sa pinas. I have a cousin who's a doctor too, wife nya is a dentist. Nag file sila papers nila puntang Canada but i always discourage them kasi they will start from scratch....manghihinayang sila sa pinag aralan nila....Unless they are willing to start from the bottom up...

lol this thread turned into a BC lovefest :D

bttt, i consider myself an enthusiast, so i too prefer to read the mags like C&D, MT and R&T more than CR. but i also understand that they are beholden to the automakers for ad dollars and test vehicles.

CR doesn't play this game - they are a nonprofit organization actually. as such, they can remain completely unbiased. i don't even read their magazine, but the fact that someone out there is demanding that companies make their vehicles safer and safer gives me some comfort.

that's how we get innovation and better cars. they also tailor their tests to the average consumer - i.e. someone who does think their vehicles are appliances and probably knows zero about driving techniques and vehicle dynamics. that's why an enthusiast may think their tests are ridiculous.

bottom line - organizations like JP Power, CR and the NHTSA have all worked together to give us cars that are safer in crashes, have more active and passive safety equipment, roll over less, and even get more performance with better gas mileage. i can't argue with any of that.

if am not mistaken... they were also responsible for the previous gen A-Class recall (because of its tendency to tip over too).
