The frequency distribution is just too much for Montero.
Don't get me wrong. Wala akong manok dito. I'm just out for the so called truth.

If this is purely human error, does it mean montero users are dumber than the rest of the population of SUV drivers. Is that what MMPC saying?

Now this can be human error but buy logic tells me there is something in Montero that contributes to a relatively high "SUA" allegations.

Spot on. As MMPC quickly dismisses the idea that something is wrong with the vehicle (natuarally), this statement of yours makes a very good point. Oh yeah, oo nga pala...driver error.

Since the 2016 Montero is more or less the same as the older model, can the gated shifter be adapted to the older models? Most SUA accident can be attributed to the "unsafe" straight shifter since you can shift straight to drive from reverse even without pressing the clutch release button... In the gated shift, it stops at neutral.

Beside the brake pedal release, they should only allow the car to start at P only.

    Different engine. Might be possible.

As for starting only in "P", there are a lot of cars that allow you to start in "N", for safety reasons, also (car accidentally dies in the middle of the road)... I guess the one thing missing is requiring a brake press to start.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Was just chatting with my cousin in a party about the news on SUA and he mentioned that he has been using his "clutch foot" to step on the brakes since he started driving vehicles with A/T transmissions. He learned this practice because his left foot is "used to press a clutch." And when he learned to drive A/Ts he was taught by his dad to use his left foot. Unsure if it was mentioned in this thread though but I'm certain that he's not the only one and this could be one of the causes for SUA because, instead of your right foot letting go of the accelerator to depress the brakes, it remains in the accelerator since the left foot does the braking and since the Montero Sport's pedals are so close to each other, it's certain that you could mistake one for the other.

Still, kapag sinabay brakes at accelerator, dapat ma overcome ng brakes ang torque na makina.
