Is he an engineer or a lawyer or both like Atty-Engr Vitangcol?
Koko to bring Mitsubishi 'Montero' controversy to Senate - Politiko
Engineer Bernardino Bernardo, a retired employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), sustained minor burns while his wife Avelina, got a fractured right arm when their Montero SUV abruptly sped up even before the engineer had his foot on the accelerator.
Montero ‘gone wild’
Complainant Atty. Bernardino Bernardo and his wife were on their white Montero Sport in a parking lot when their car suddenly accelerated and “went wild”, rammed and dragged the parked tricycles which were completely destroyed._/_/_/

Sudden unintended acceleration, Actual road test.
SUA can be easily reproducted in periodic low voltage.
"Forensic Science International 267 (2016) 35–41"
"Experimental study for the reproduction of sudden unintended
acceleration incidents"
Study/Source: Forensic Science International
Observations: The TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is already 100% position (meaning Wide Open Throttle - WOT), but the driver's foot (on gas pedal) didn't even move (as you can see on the video, APS (Accelerator Position Sensor) = 34% to 35%).
Normal operation: Ideal TPS response should be equal to APS: TPS = APS.
Abnormal operation (in case of SUA): sudden increase in TPS until 100%, but no change in APS input (gas pedal).
Charles Dycoco Raffy Nieto what do you think?

Glenn Manikis And you can also invite mitsubishi, DTI, Montero Club, team or group, Abs GMA, Tulfo, also invite the frequent possers here... on your testing day... para All is fair... and all can witness the testing....

Toto Varela Glenn Manikis, it is not the burden of this group to prove to you there is SUA in a Montero. They took it upon themselves to WARN you unbelievers so that no harm will come to you and let Mitsubishi pay for correction, recall if needed, and accept respo...See More

Glenn Manikis Toto Varela this group is accusing mitsubishi of SUA.... just put your words into action.... What this page lacks is TECHNICAL evidence..... this is your chance.... to put the final nail in the coffin...

Raffy Nieto Glenn Manikis, It's been long suspected that the cause of SUA is the result of an ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) glitch in its design. The ETC is software controlled. So there is NOTHING to VISUALIZE or examine...

Raffy Nieto ...Mitsu has been constantly arguing that if SUA occurs, there should be PHYSICAL evidence that can be seen to show what is causing it. Just like when you're smart phone hangs, you won't find anything physically wrong with it. All you need to do is restart it and its back to normal...

Raffy Nieto ...Because its very convenient for the auto company to blame the driver for pedal misapplication, then its easy for them to ignore the existence of a problem on their product, until an authorized entity (i.e. DTI) will FORCE them to do something about it...
Like · April 23 at 7:50pm
Raffy Nieto ... Consumers and experts like Dr. Belt & Anderson are left on their own to try to figure out the problem. In a good majority of these studies, the problems seem to point out to a common trigger, LOW VOLTAGE on the car battery...
Like · April 23 at 7:51pm
Raffy Nieto ... So what's the connection with low battery voltage and SUA? Dr. Belt was able to derive a theory that makes sense and match nearly all the characteristics of a SUA event. It is this theory that we wanted to put to a test...
Like · April 23 at 7:51pm
Raffy Nieto ... When DTI was pushed by Congress to conduct a formal investigation, we proposed that Dr. Belt's theory be tested. Fast forward to multiple discussions with DTI and Mitsu, we managed to come into a clear AGREEMENT to conduct Dr. Belt's test...
Like · April 23 at 7:52pm
Raffy Nieto ... Now one very important point to testing this theory was that SUA gets triggered when the ECU incorrectly detects the wrong low voltage and triggers the engine to go on full throttle w/o needing to press on the AC pedal...
Like · April 23 at 7:52pm
Raffy Nieto ... We needed to know EXACTLY what part of the engine does the ECU take a voltage sampling from. We know that such function exists, because the way it works is clearly shown in the auto manufacturer's technical documentation...
Like · April 23 at 7:52pm
Raffy Nieto ... What the docs don't show is WHERE such voltage sampling takes place. This was the very important piece of info that we were asking from Mitsubishi. Because without knowing where such sampling takes place, it will be complete trial and error for us to do the test...
Like · April 23 at 7:53pm
Raffy Nieto ... When we asked for this piece of info, there was no argument or question from Mitsubishi. All we knew next was that DTI sends us a letter throwing us out of any discussions...
Like · April 23 at 7:53pm
Raffy Nieto ... The earlier agreement to jointly define and conduct the test has completely collapsed. So we are back to sticking only to a theory because we still don't have any info on where to inject this negative voltage on the engine for us to test Dr. Belt's theory...
Like · April 23 at 7:54pm
Raffy Nieto ... Now think about this for a moment. If Mitsubishi provides this crucial info that we are asking for, we do the test and the test FAILS, wouldn't that have been a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY for Mitsubishi to prove us wrong? Kaming mapaphiya, diba?...
Like · 1 · April 23 at 7:54pm
Raffy Nieto ... So bat hindi natuloy? Why didn't Mitsubishi want to support that such simple test be conducted? If the test failed, the would have had the best PR weapon to prove us wrong...
Like · 1 · April 23 at 7:54pm
Raffy Nieto ...Instead Mitsu chose to spend millions to hire Horiba Mira to use their report as their PR weapon, which strangely DENIES the existence of a voltage compensation function despite the manufacturer's documentation saying otherwise...
Like · 1 · April 23 at 7:54pm
Raffy Nieto ... So again, why will Mitsu chose to evade from releasing the info that we need about their product to allow such test to happen? For me, I can only speculate that they have something to HIDE. There is something about this specific test that is prompting them to push back from it taking place.

Glenn Manikis Bottom line sir... mitsubishi nor dti wont do the testing...

Raffy Nieto Glenn Manikis, Your point is duly noted. Now if Mitsubishi REFUSES to entertain the concerns of their consumers on this issue by NOT WANTING TO SUPPORT such test from being conducted, then there is NOTHING TO STOP US from continuing this info campaign on this alleged SUA problem on the Montero…

Raffy Nieto …I already explained to here that is NOT LIKE we don’t want to do the test on our own, but WE CAN’T because we of specific info that we were lacking to do it. That is why we were going through the proper process of coursing this through DTI…
Like · April 24 at 7:22am
Raffy Nieto …Take note that there was already a CLEAR AGREEMENT with ALL PARTIES to do this test. We already were working on it together, then binawi nila. So are we just supposed to accept it for what is and just shut up because they no longer want to support doing the test?...

Raffy Nieto …It’s very clear to all those within the concerned public that they want CLOSURE on this SUA issue. Am sure Mitsubishi wants closure on this too because they want to sell more cars…
Like · April 24 at 7:22am
Raffy Nieto … But instead, they chose to spend millions on a PR campaign just so that they can avoid providing support to its customers on doing a simple test that can hopefully give them such closure.

… Compensation was mostly done on those victims that have filed their cases in court. At least 33 victims were compensated with Buy Back settlements. All these things I’m explaining have been well documented in their FB Info site.

Charles Dycoco Thats a practical financial decision when the cost of buy-back is way cheaper than a recall.
For example, 33 units were bought back at 1.5M pesos per unit that will cost 49.5M.
While if they are going to recall the 90,000++ units and do a fix/repair that will cost them (for example) 5000 pesos per unit, thats a total of 450M pesos.
Syempre ang company gusto nila mkatipid, dun na sila sa 49.5M.
How about the damages to properties, the lives involved, etc? Sasabihin ng company na, meron naman insurance. Let the insurance handle it at lusot na sila sa liabilities.
