    Respected Tsikoteers!

I am planning to buy and imported Pajero Japan Version. My budget is 500K.

Kindly advise me as to the things I should consider when choosing one.

Primarily, I'd like to know what is the difference between Fieldmaster type and Exceed? Also, Why are prices of imported pajero so inconsistent that you can find a 98 model and a 2004 model almost of the same price??! I have also noticed that subic pajeros are much cheaper..

I am a newbie in the car kingdom.. kindly help.

    Thanks!

    hi x_driver_x,

in my opinion, I don't you recommend buying converted vehicles. Its risky, plus you are killing our car industry. I tried driving a 3-dr subic paj and may delay yung steering niya. Napansin ko rin na lumang luma na interior niya. Rather invest your precious 500k with orig LHD vehicle.

    Just my humble opinion.

I agree with carlocaraddict. There's nothing wrong with maximizing your money's worth, but it shouldn't be at the expense of your safety and peace of mind.

For an additional 50k, you can already have a 1995 local GEN II.

Madami pang mga ex-JDM dealers na manloloko. Calling a 1992 Pajero, a 2004 model just because it was imported into the country in 2004 is a very common practice. Yes, madaming nagogoyo diyan.

Ex-JDM (Subic) cars are not for newbies. They make good projects. But as a reliable daily driver, you better have at least some upper-level competency in vehicle operation and maintenance.

Btw, Field Master is mostly a local trim. Exceed is the highest trim available for the Pajero anywhere in the world. Usually distinguished by the center tone paint (the accent color is in the center instead of on the lower panels), leather, moonroof, and other bells and whistles. Other trim levels include GLS, GLX, and base model among others.

I recommend a used Starex or a Suzuki APV manual. Dami pa pwede isuggest ang mga Tsikoteers. Just post your requirements.

    Howdy friends...

Just joined this site... Merry CHRISTmas to all...

I too have this dilemma. I am planning to buy a Pajero and my budget is roughly P300K-P350K. I know its a bit tight for that kind of vehicle but thinking that I need to have a vehicle that has a high clearance because frequent flooding here in the Metro. A friend of mine (who is a member of the pajero club) told me to consider a surplus pajero (either from Dubai or Japan)... Just want ask you guys what's your take on this... Oh and I am a newbie car owner with little driving experience...

    Thank you...

i use to own a delica and 3dr pajero intercooler. i never had any major problem with both unit because i have a professional mechanic/friend (very minimal ang fee madalas wala)who helps me with all my concerns. If getting a jdm surplus be sure you have one ( mechanic/friend) otherwise stay away from these. your budget can get you a local unit. i have to sell both medyo nakaipon na nag-innova na ako. and do not hurry to get one. HUWAG MANG GIGIL! i got my delica after 4 months of searching kasi nga i have to consider safety issues (first and foremost ). my pajero also took me about 4 months of searching before finding one. again safety issues. also they are not friendly on the pocket when you talk of consumption(7k/l) good thing mura and diesel but saan ba patungo yan tataas din yan. sarap talaga to own and drive one but at the end of the day did your ride got you from pt A to B safely and conveniently? wala bang tirik or hassle? i have been a car owner for 35 years and i have so many hit and misses on second hand cars, i bought a brand new car only once. since you are new your money should get the best there is. have your friend assist you in getting your ride. 350 hard earned money is no joke. HAPPY HUNTING AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

can't go wrong with starex. pasok na pasok sa budget ang relatively recent year models. plus, it's much more comfortable and spacious than a pajero or adventure.

Get a 2nd Hand Pajero 95-96 madami kang mabibili sa mga 2nd hand dealer.
Ingat lang madami lang bugos dyan.

If you like Innova J konti nalang add mo pero medyo bouncy yong Innova

Yup, go for a Starex or Adventure. Given your criteria, the Starex best fits the deal.

Avoid converted SUV's... it's a hit or miss thing and then goodluck trying to sell it in the future.

i'm an owner of a 1994 pajero converted car and so far, after topping up the odo from the previous owner by about 3,000 km or so, i don't have any complaint. i know buying an imported car from subic affects our car industry, but i have a different opinion on this that i don't want to talk about (similar to pirated dvd's vs. original).

mine was extensively nurtured by a pajero expert and i believe the critical conversion issues have been addressed very well. mind you, my idea of vehicle operation and maintenance is very basic, but not a problem. guess it's only a matter of having your car pampered once and for all by a reliable mechanic. honestly, after i got this from subic, only one visit to this pajero expert and another to the engine calibration center and that's it, i'm missing them already.

further, i was told that japanese specs are far superior than the local specs of pajero but i can't confirm this coz i've no experience with the local one.

i've enjoyed this car going to as far as ilocos, cagayan valley to laguna and other locations in the southern tagalog region. tried it on the highway, offroads and sand beaches. i'm satisfied and very happy.

    enjoy and God bless.
