4m40 knocking sound (acceleration)

Mga mitsubishi experts and pajero owners...

My 2003 pajero has a knocking sound (tac-tac-tac), continously and loudly upon pressing the accelerator pedal in a rush (PA-BIGLA).. as early up 1.5 rpm, the knocking would start and never stop... BUT (weird part)... if I will accelerate it slowly.. kahit up to 3RPM, walang knocking sound...

I had two mechanics checked, they can't diagnose the problem.., ang sabi lang OVERHAUL daw kailangan... huhuhu...

any help will be appreciated... thanks

may pahabol tanong pa ako...

kapag palitan natin ang mga shocks ng 2003 pajero to GAS type, nawawala po ba ang options ng Soft-Moderate-Hard? At patay na rin ang ilaw ng tire sensor ko...

Alanganin ko dalhin sa CASA kasi I'm sure patay ako sa gastos....

any help anyone?

afaik mawawala na yun pero hindi mawawala ilaw ng tire sensor mo sa mags nakalagay yun sensor nun.

may ganyan din ako dating problema. sabi sakin nagloloko daw yung EGR ko. ginawa ng mekaniko pinasakan ng pako yung vaccuum tube na nagcoconnect ng EGR at intercooler. nawala agad yung tunog. try mo po baka sakali gumana.

what do you mean "pinasakan ng pako"? Is it normal to have dark smoke (upon rev) coming from the vacuum tube (if not connected with the intercooler)?

How do I check if the intercooler is still functionable?

sinara po yung tube sa pamamagitan lang ng pako.

hanapin nyo po yung tube na galing sa intercooler na naka-connect dyan sa tinuturo ng arrow sa picture. tapos lagyan nyo po ng pang sara o kaya pako. (rubber po yung tube na yun kaya pako lang yung ginamit nung mekaniko ko.)

check mo muna timing, valve clearance, pede rin fuel knock yan, check for air in the fuel line. finally mag pa compression test ka. if all checks out baka katok na yan ng conrod bearing. how many kms na tinakbo?

61T mileage.. matic transmission.

I recently had it oil changed, and change atf using shell DONAX... ok po ba ang DONAX?

If your mechanics has an automotive stetoscope and technically knows different engine sound, they can easily identify and locate that knocking sound. Saan po ba location nyo? Kung malapit lang sa amin I'll identify it for you for FREE of charge

please check your injection pump timing, maybe it will help minimize the engine knocking. try to open your oil filler cap while engine running. if the smoke comes out the oil filler cap, then the mechanics are right due for overhauling. ( cause: loss compression) you may also encounter a hard start on your diesel engine.

~Hi Sir Dudee Good Day....ganyan din ung pajero namin na 4m40 engine..parehas na parehas tayo ng naging experience....ang probable cause nyan e ung butterfly ng tubro charger mo...since malaki-laki na din mileage ng auto mo madumi na cguro....the butterfly on the turbo opens when you press the accelerator pedal quickly...makapal na din cguro carbon nyang sayo kaya ganyan....Madaming auto mechanic ang hindi alam yan,kung ano ano papapalitan sayo e ganun pa din nman.hope it will help to you sir...

Hello Sir...

The knocking sound is due to either advance of timing. or your injectors need replacement. If I'm not mistaken you are also experiencing black smoke. You should have it calibrated.

sir sakit na ng 4m40 yan knocking noise na yan during accelaration
kailangan palitan po yan ng timing chain,sprocet,chain guide..yan po ang cuase ng knocking sound..nun nasa diamond motor pa ako yan ang kadalasan complain ng customer knocking noise..yan lang naman po ang pinapalitan..kailangan buksan ang timing chain cover..kailangan lang po ingatan yun cylinder head gasket kasi madali masira yun at magkakaron na siya ng engine oil leak..sana po ay makatulong po ito sa inyu..tnx

I have the same experience sir. And matagal na ako naghahanap ng solution with my 4m40 knocking sound. What will I do with the butterfly of the turbo charger sir? I really need your help. Thank you.

Mga sirs I need your advice.Malakas din ang knocking sound ng 4M40 engine ko after ma OVERHAUL at mausok pati.Sabi ng mechanic ko wait until mag 1,500 (1,200 na ngaun) ang milage at pa calibrate/clean ang injection pump.Mahina pati ang hatak pag naka on ang aircon.

Sir ADARTSE our fieldmaster had the same problem last month.knocking sound,loss of power and mausok.had it calibrated at jobstarr calibration in sucat.ok na sya ngayn 9,5k damage.btw it only clocks 35k on the odometer
