Yung starter din ng GLS CVT namen nagfafail minsan. It produces lang a loud whining motor noise pero hindi nag crank. Not crank noise. Di ko pa napacheck kasi its hard to recreate the scenario. Isa pang reklamo ko yung brakes. They are on the weak side para sa akin. Lalo na pag maraming sakay. And the steering wheel still produces the noise that irritates me everytime you turn the wheel. FC average is 13 km/l mostly highway *1700kms odo.

For me, they feel weak. On the other cars that i drive, vios for example, even the lightest pressure using your toes on the brakes, you can feel the brakes. For the mirage, you need to step on the brakes with harder pressure. Tas malalim pa yung brake pedal ng mirage. No feedback for the first centimeter of pressing the pedal. Kinda reminds me of the brakes of our 97 isuzu fuego but better.

I have the same reaction when I test drove the MIRAGE last year during it's launch event at SM MOA. The first inch of brake pedal felt as if there was nothing from the brakes. I had to press the pedal hard and deep to get the stopping power I was looking for. I mentioned this to the Mitsubishi people if it was a fluke or standard with the MIRAGE. As I have test driven the Lancer EX 1.6, Lancer EX 2.0, ASX 4x2, ASX 4x4, Montero Sport, etc, I really feel the brake action very much lacking. I hope it is just a matter of adjustment to get it feeling like the other Mitsubishi cars.

Ako din ganun. At first I tought na dahil all of our vehicles are all wheel disks kaya naninibago ako. But I find it really lacking. I hope too na adjistments lang. But siguro ganun talaga. Yung front disks ang cute.haha roughly the same diameter as the ones you would find in motor disk brakes.haha.

actually, those brakes almost led us into an accident. My sister drove the mirage. Then, as we approach at a round-about, she step on the brakes a bit, since sanay sya sa brakes ng vios. wala sya naramdaman na feedback sa mirage. So panic strikes, suddenly, she was so confused for seconds na inisip daw nya na is the pedal she is stepping is still the accelerator? Kasi nga no feedback. She was searching for the brakes until she realizes na brakes nga yun and slammed it. Stopped just in the nick of time.

Hi mga mirage owner particularly for GLS-CVT... na eencounter nyo ba problem sa braking...as posted by the others, I have no comparison previously because I have not owned a brand new car, what we had is an old lancer that was not brand new wherein the brake is very deep....

any comments on the Braking issue for some?

Well said. Actually, when driving a car na hindi mo pa na-handle before, it's necessary to check first how the brake, gas and clutch (if MT) respond sa apak (pati na din yung pagtimpla ng gas and clutch).

^there is a reason why the driver seat is adjustable, stepping on the break & the clutch at the drivers comfort is one of them

FULL STOP requires the driver to step on the clutch & break pedals deep

on the other hand DECELERATION would require the driver to still press on the break pedal hard enough for the break pads to touch discs

nudging the break pedal will simply not cause the car to DECELERATE (maybe for automatic tranny) much more proceed into a FULL STOP (not even for automatic tranny)

I also told and warned her that that incident is unacceptable. yet it happened again yesterday while she is parking. I asked her why she cant find the brakes eh shes a driver also naman and the Mirage CVT has a big brake pedal. she explained that the brake pedal response of the mirage has led her to confusion since it is useless at the first inch. no response from the brakes.

everything is adjusted proir to driving. the seats, mirrors and even the steering wheel angle. its just the confusion that bugs her. and I would have to agree na the brake reponse on the mirage are unlike the modern cars of today. I also learned to get used to it but not to the point naman na i cant locate the brakes.hehe. its just you have to apply some more pressure in braking. it is not a problem to us na nakadrive na ng brakes ng older cars. its not any worse than those. pero maybe its a problem for her since the oldest car that she drove was a 2006 XTrail.

However, while the engine and chassis are great, I found that the steering was pretty damn light. That's great for parking and for puttering around in the city, but at highway speeds it would've been better if it had more feedback. Making quick lane changes is a bit disconcerting since the steering makes the car a bit twitchy, but then again, this is a cheap city car, not a highway cruiser. The brakes were fine, though I don't like the way it engages - the first inch of pedal travel does close to nothing, and then as you step a tiny bit deeper, it suddenly bites. At first, this made for a jerky drive, but it's easy to get used to it.
yes I agree, the first inch is useless. its like a Digital 1/0 or an on/off switch response rather than a linear response. also you have to use some more leg muscles in braking the mirage. its not unlike on the vios, you can get decent braking using your toe .hehe but it is easy to get used to.
