They just need to move out stocks. The Lancer EX is an old model so it doesn't compete well with other newer compacts. Plus, Filipino buyers are so stingy when it comes to fuel so they shy away from the 2.0 GT-A.
The Lancer GT-A is great value at under 1M. If you're looking for a great drive with ample power and timeless looks, the Lancer is your best bet. The Altis and Mz3 have more modern interiors and toys though.

November 27th, 2014 01:51 PM #3432Thank you. I was intrigued by the low DP (well almost close to nothing) and the manageable monthly amort.
My first two choices really were the Altis V and Mazda 3 1.5 but the deals are too pricey for now.
I'm really not knowledgeable about cars so I'm trying to look at every angle.
What about after sales service? Also does anyone know the km/L?
Thanks again.

Im not endorsing Hyundai, but when i was looking they were also offering large discounts on the elentra line which took me by surprise.
As for your other query ill consider the ff in order of importance to me.
1. Design appeal, do you love the way your car looks, do you like to be seen driving it, would it age well.
2. Dealer after sales/ service support and reputation and proximity to your place/office etc. Its very important for car maintenance.
3. Brand, most cars though are made to last as long as you take care of it.
4. Cost, would it break your bank so to speak? Would you be too preoccupied in paying it at the expense of other things of interest to you, like travel or vacations.
5. Vehicle use, what will you use it for? To haul the family? Impress the girls? Or just to get you from point a to b those kinds of stuff.
Most of the time though the hierarchy of the above is more like mix and match which totally depends on you.
Happy hunting.
PS. The GTA is a nice car IMHO.

November 27th, 2014 02:56 PM #3434Thanks so much for taking time to share your insights.
At best I'm really a novice driver who has never held a wheel here in Manila. It's been years since I last attempted to drive and that was in my hometown where streets are wide and vehicles minimal. On a side note I'm thinking of getting myself into a driving school at least to get that confidence.
Back to the topic:
With the design, I really like the lancer EX. It's somewhat a wow factor for me much like the new Mazda 3. There's just something about the design.
For the after sales service, I really have no idea. I don't even know why it's called "CASA" to be honest. No preference as to brand also.
For the financing side, I think for the current deal they're offering me, it would be manageable.
Also one more thing I'd like to consider is market value and ease of disposal of the car after around 4 to 5 years. I've heard rumors that they're stopping the production of the Lancer? If true what will this mean to people who bought the 2014 Lancer?
Thank you again guys. I'm impressed at the speed and willingness of people to respond in this forum.
Galing!

For the "CASA" reputation/ after sales service you can browse here at the forum or go to specific car/brand forums, just search in google. They usually have feedbacks.
As for resale value, there are just brands who have an edge over others like Honda for example. I dont think though it would sell faster as compared to others but thats just how it is.
As for the Lancer being discontinued and its effects on your ex if you decide to buy can go both ways. Either it would become a classic or fade in obscurity, hard to say really. In the end its how you appreciate your car, i for one appreciate my first car that its still with me after all these years. Im having a hard time parting with it, admittedly it is very seldom used but i would probably not get used not seeing it on my garage LOL and yes it is a Lancer.

November 27th, 2014 06:09 PM #3437They are offering me the following:
19K DP
24K monthly for 60 months
1.195M SRP
Assuming that, that really is the SRP and market value, this deal comes out to around 24% of strictly and straightforward cash interest only.
I'm assuming that this is in-house financing too.
I'm just a little bit skeptical as to if this really is a good deal or not.
And really what I'm looking for is a reliable and stylish ride from my place in Makati to office which is also in Makati. The real travel will happen on weekends when I go back to my hometown.
Thank you guys

November 28th, 2014 10:01 AM #3438Mga sir pwede po mag paturo?
I have my GTA, 1 week old pa lang po sya, at ito un pinaka unang unang car ko.
Any help is very much appreciated!
Pasensya na talaga, super duper beginner mode...
