Yes, ROI for cost difference is about 18 months or so ... assuming you set temperature between 22C and 25C ... minimum use around 8-10 hours per day ... less than that, minimal savings but can still recoup within 3 years or so ...

Oh, for rarely used air conditioners, just buy the basic with manual switch ... an insect will eventually fry your electronics ...

Avoid running air conditioner 24 hours ... if you must, then room must have 2 units to alternate usage ...

Curious rin ako bakit.. may AC ako sa bahay wala patayan madalas months pa inaabot. pinapatay lang kapag nililinis ko or kapag wala talaga tao sa bahay.

isip ko parehas lang ito ng mga ref eh, and difference lang eh controlled yung box ng ref vs a room na maraming lusutan.

Refrigerators actually shut down when set temperature is achieved ... most aircons have their fans still running even when compressor turns off ... they'll just last longer if not run 24 hours most of the time ... but, hey, if one has the budget then by all means it's ok ...

Interesting thing about the molds ... have air conditioners that run once a week or once a month ... have not experienced mold issues ...

Not that interesting bro, it only means that there is a source of moisture that encourage mold growth and the drying effect of the AC helps in preventing it. Seems you are more concerned about the fan motor rather than the compressor giving out. Anyway, ang hindi ko lang inalam ay kung gaano sila katagal.mag palit ng AC unit.

when we were kids, our use of the aircon was dictated from above.
"ten hours lang ang aircon. 8 pm to 6 am. and absolutely no aircon in the daytime."
yes, the aircon did last several years, but we weren't too happy with its limited use.

i suspect,
the limited use of aircon was to save on electricity... increased aircon longevity was a happenstance secondary effect.

Just an update. Ansons offered a Panasonic Conventional ac that has 11.3 eer, surprisingly, it fits the hole and no need for minor works. Ended up buying that instead of the Condura and it's also cheaper. So far, wife's happy with the cooling cap of Panasonic. Hopefully the higher eer (close to inverter eer's) translates to tiny savings the least.

not sure why you're expecting same kwh consumptions because of relatively close EERs....

here's 1.5t non inverter and a 1.5T inverter with almost same EERs.... look at the consumption (kWH)...

mura talaga ang non inverter aircon ngayon.. halos bagsak presyo na nga kasi wala na masyado bumibili...

a regular non inverter 1 HP aircon consumes around 600WH/1000.. so that's .6KwH (let's say 10 pesos per hour Meralco) so that's 6 pesos per hour x 8 per day or around 48 pesos per day x 30 days = 1440 a month consumption x 12 = 17,280 per year.

our lg dual inverter 1 HP consumes around 275KWH/1000.. .275KwH x 10 pesos = 2.75 per hour x 8 = 22 pesos x 30 days = 660 pesos a month x 12 = 7,920 per year.
