    naka sanayan na lang talaga so kung ano ang demand yon din ang kailangan supply sa market.. Personally mga 3 times a month lang ako kumain ng rice, mostly veg salad, bread and steak tamad ako mag saing ng bigas hahahaha

    nakakain na ako nito sa Cebu. i think a few carinderias still offer this, and meron ding tinitinda sa palengke. Ground white corn i think. i can't remember how it tastes exactly, it was a bit bland compared to rice, but i didn't hate it either ^_^


    i think the explanation is that the carbs in corn are harder to break down, so it stays in your tummy longer.


    i saw that segment on fake rice from China. They've also come up with fake eggs made of gelatin and a cocktail of chemicals. If only they put that much creativity and work in producing real actual food

    Sir baka hilaw nyo kinain? ^_^

    Mais kan-un(rice) yung tawag nila, made from white corn. The taste is a bit more interesting compared to yellow/japanese corn.

    in the 70s there was this story, apocryphal it was, during the palarong pambansa that cebu province team was not faring any good in marathon and track and field which they lorded over the past years because the team director made the mistake of bringing sacks of rice for his athletes rather their usual staple (corn). his runners were sluggish and tired on the field. they were not getting any medal. they could not get in podium. then one of the coaches had the sense of sending a telegram to their provincial education superintendent to send them corn asap. the story had it that, after eating corn, their athletes ran like roadrunner and took the remaining medals in all categories, and was the eventual grand champion.

    Matigas ang mais. Matagal maluto at matrabaho lutuin (pakuluan ng matagal o gigilingin muna para gawing tortilla). Mahirap at matagal din tunawin sa tiyan kung buong kernels kakainin (kaya nga ginagagawa munang tortilla sa Mexico). Di gaya ng rice, madali ma-digest, mabilis gawing energy ng katawan.

    i believed depende sa kinagisnan at anong crops ang available sa lugar. dito sa lugar ng trabaho ko sa africa, mga locals bihira kumain ng rice more on powdered cassava saka yam meron din sila kinakain na rice pero yung parboiled na malalaki ang butil hindi sticky unlike our rice varieties.

    The south asians has the Basmati Rice. Long grains, and far different from our phl rice. The grains are long, and not sticky.

    I think the best, is Thailand's jasmine rice. Mabango & diretso tubig na, di na huhugasan, pwede na.

    I assume when humans started cultivating rice, it was not a lowland/paddy rice variety they used.
    The the irrigated paddy rice farming system probably just evolved from the non-irrigated farming system due to higher yield.

    Sushi isnt made from sticky rice.
    Japonica, I believe, is not a sticky or glutinous rice (malagkit) variety. Parang Dinorado lang ang ginagamit sa Sushi.

    Not the malagkit or sweet rice. It is made from polished glutinous rice with rice vinegar (aji mirin) added after it is cooked to make it stick together

    afaik either Japanese or Thai rice is used for maki, both the short grain variety, but definitely not malagkit, which is used for kakanin, machang, and sometimes in lugaw.

    Our south east asian neighbors ganyan. Most asian countries ganyan din. Probably dahil rice has been a staple since unang panahon pa. Probably brought by the Chinese

    Oh ito nakabili ako. Magaling talaga si kirkland sa packaging. May kasama pa cloth na pwede ko ireuse para taguan ng bigas.





    Next ko itry yung binebenta ni assad by the kilo sila.
