Hi guys. I'm going back to the Philippines soon and I just realized na expired na pala passport (PH passport) ko. I have been doing some research online and found out that I can still enter provided that I get an approval from an Immigration officer at the airport.

tama, dun pa lang sa airpost of origin di ka na papasakayin kung wala kang papers na valid. you will be refused boarding by the airline.

the least they will ask will be either of the 2:

    1. an extension of your passport. this is a document attached to your passport extending its validity for purposes of going back to your home country.

    2. Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport, issued if you lost your passport. you'll need a police report and some other supporting papers for you to get this at the Philippine embassy where you are now. as in #1, this can only be used for going to the home country.

if i were you i'd be going to the nearest Philippine embassy first thing on monday morning. sayang lang ang ticket na binili mo kung sa airline counter pa lang e ire-refuse ka na. baka isumbong ka pa sa immigration nila hulihin ka pa as "undocumented alien". btw, you are in fact already violating the laws of your host country by being there with expired travel documents and they have all the reason throw you in jail.

"approval from immigration authority at the airport"? yeah right! kung sakaling pasakayin ka ng eroplano at maka-landing ka sa naia, juice ko day laking kotong yan! be prepared to shell out major mulah! payat siguro US$500 dyan na lagayan.

yung nilagay mong link nakalagay dun " provided prior approval has been obtained from Immigration Authorities at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL). " operative words are "prior approval". meaning you get papers before you go to the airport. exactly as #1 above, which is a passport extension.

I called the local airport immigration and was told that it should be ok since I am going to my country of citizenship. I got the person's name and extension number in case someone stops me when I go through immigration.

I also called up the airline and after an hour of waiting on the fone, I was told that they'll let me board but won't be responsible if immigration stops me or wont let me in and was told to call the immigration from both ends, again I took the person's name and direct line in case they don't let me board...

Lastly, I called up the airport immigration in NAIA and was told that it should be fine as long as I can prove that I am a Filipino citizen. My current visa (which is valid) should show that I am a permanent resident, not a citizen. Hope it goes well, I just can't afford to wait another 6 weeks for passport renewal.

noypi, kapatid...last minute at its best.

anyway, nung pabalik ako ng US last March, may isang Viet citizen na expired na ang passport. Pabalik na sya ng Viet at ang nakahuli pa na expired na ang passport nya, yung PAL agent. PAL agent had to call the airport manager and contact Viet embassy. Swerte at bukas pa ang embassy, and embassy faxed a memo to the airport manager (or I guess immigration officer), and let her fly back to Viet.

based on my experience, hindi naman ang destination country ang concerned if you dont have a valid doc to fly, it's the country of origin. if you dont have a valid doc to fly, the airport officer shouldnt allow you past the security checkpoint...no ID, no ENTRY.

kung nakauwi man si enterbay, baka na-delay lang kung hindi sya pinalabas in time ng AUS officers.
