Martial arts only applies if your opponent use his/her bare hands and feet or a bladed weapon, stick and more...but if the car jacker is equipped with semi auto, chamber loaded and ready to fire any time, martial arts is useless most specially if you are inside the car.

You have to chose, if you have a weapon and balls to retaliate or to give up your valuables and beg for your life...

these things are just tools... if you really are concerned about your security, you should check your habits and your routines first, then check on your personality if you really are prepared for an encounter.
