You know the old saying especially in your neck of the woods, "Show em if you got em". That refers more to a woman's T&A. But it applies equally to everything. "Talk the talk if you can walk the walk......."

I mean, the standard of living here is quite high. Many high school kids (public school) here are issued their own MacBooks/iBooks by the school district. How much material wealth do you have to flaunt to be considered "mayabang? And that's if it can even be considered flaunting because just about every kid has a gadget of some sort. Also....... many universities nowadays require you have a laptop or pc before you can enroll.

Here, it's an entirely different world from the Philippines. That's why I'm planning to look as poor as possible when we make the trip to RP next year so I don't attract undue attention.
ah! now that's exactly what i'm talking about!

if person A drives down the street revving his engine at everybody, or talking long and loudly about how rich he is to everyone within earshot at a party, then it's probably fair that you call him mayabang.

if person B is sitting in a corner doing schoolwork, not minding anybody but friends/studymates, and he happens to irritate you because he's wearing designer clothes, speaking English, with iBook, cellphone and PDA are all over the place, then maybe it's you who has the problem.

problem is, many people think both person A and person B are mayabang

For b: Where? Here? That's hard to believe. In the Philippines? Most likely.

Here, a guy revving his engine is almost always directed at the guy next to him. If he's feeling cocky and self-assured, he must have something to back it up. So it's up to you if you want to stoop to his level and take him on or ignore the guy and let it go. I'll admit, I've taken the former action just for kicks and got my b*tt handed back to me on a platter. But then I'm not the one who got pulled over by the Highway Patrol a short time later.

Of course, I live in a college town. So it's not unusual to see people with laptops or other gadgets. Better they surf and indulge with their gadgets rather than being out there doing drugs and being a nuisance. There's a lot worse things than people having gadgets. If other people have a problem with people having better stuff, they need to look at themselves first and ask themselves why they think that way. That's my take on it.

Add: If I felt envious about every other person who has better stuff than me, I would've been dead long ago. Maybe I'm a bit selfish for not caring how I compare to other people too much. Oh well.

ah!! that's it! Here in the Philippines, maraming insecure at inggitero. hehehe.

insecure: Yun nga, he announces to the whole world that he is this and that he owns this and that (whether true or not) without the audience even asking or not the topic of the discussion with the intent of making others feel small or insignificant.

inggitero: yung nagpapaapekto sa insecure then later on, insecure na rin sya. hehehe.

For me, they can all just drop dead. I'm too busy to waste my time on them. hehehe.

Parepareho lang yan because the "old rich" dont brag with what they have unless asked.

What's the difference between sosi, pa sosi and mayabang?
