Even the AVP level positions don't pay very well? If I'm not mistaken, the starting salary for the MT program of HSBC was 60k back when I graduated. I would assume successive promotions would entail large increases.

Though other local banks I know they start at around 15k, just not sure how it progresses from there. Pretty wide spread actually.

Although to be fair, even in other industries, the pay difference between locals and multinationals is pretty big.

But I would suppose that an AVP at P&G earns more than at AVP at HSBC. Also, "home grown" officers have lower pay since the increase isn't that much. I have AVP friends that are not even earning 6 digits. They started as staff and have been with the bank for over a decade. Although I am not sure if benefits at the bank are the same with FMCGs such as all medical expenses getting reimbursed (including medicines) My friend's wife is an AVP and when she gave birth at Makati Med, the bill was P250k plus and they only paid P15k because they upgraded the room. All medical expenses of their child is paid for including vaccines (which is expensive daw). Sick leaves at the bank are unlimited, you can even go on medical leave for 6 mos and get paid your whole salary. I don't know if it's the same for other companies. Personal loans have no interest.

I see, I think it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. It'll take about a decade of working at P&G (or other FMCGs) to get to an AVP position, so I guess it's just natural they earn more.

Benefits vary greatly per company. Nestle is very family-oriented so they have good benefits, although pay isn't as high as Uni or P&G (unless you were pirated hehe).

FMCG car plans are so-so. No match for petroleum. Although I'd readily trade in a nice car plan for career growth which FMCG offers.

But what I noticed among my friends are those that move around a lot (or get pirated) have the highest pay. I have friends who move every 3 years and they are earning a lot (enough to buy a car, travel, get married, buy a condo with no help from parents).

I guess it really depends on the size of the company, and whether the company is multinational.

Generous din siguro yung GM sa company niyo 'no, bro CVT? 😉

Depends rin. I have friends who've been with the same company since graduation and I think they're already earning enough for a car/condo/marriage.

The key is to be with a company with a good compensation structure. Meron kasi mataas starting, but low increases. Meron naman low starting, but double-digit increases annually so you'll eventually catch up. Then there are others na good starting pay na, good increases pa. If you're with the latter, you'll be at par with those who move a lot.

One thing about staying within the same company is that promotions are usually quicker. There are companies like Shell and P&G that only promote from within, so you can't transfer to them and expect a promotion. Others naman like Uni and Nestle, they hire middle managers from outside, but pretty rare because they have a very strong talent pool inside as well. Usually those that pirate you with a higher position are smaller companies that try to get you from a big company.

Multicab is not really suitable for use on the expressway bro. Will they be using service roads only? I would get a 4 wheeler Fuso Canter or a long bed pickup.

Yes bro, depends on the company.

Plus, those companies who deal with clients usually give those big titles (VP, Director etc) for representation purposes....
