Are styrofoams used on iceboxes fire hazards? Or are they made w/ those fire retardant mixtures already?

Am trying to find something around the house that will replace this:

    p_20200713_084857.jpg

they were used as insulators and anti- nvh materials on my truck's skid plate w/c i repainted myself.

do what you gotta do so you can do what you wanna do

some modern styrofoam products may have fire retardant already.
    others may not have, yet.

one way to find out, is to get a small sample and set fire to it.

Foam injected material used in iceboxes are not flame retardant. Better use a fiber cement board or if you could take some acoustic board of the dropped-ceiling in the office.

Or a dual-sided aluminum foam insulation, they are fire retardant and cost less than P100 per meter at Ace/Wilcon.

i was thinking about this because i saw some in the bodega. medyo manipis din but i guess it'll do if push comes to shove.

but the aluminum covering is making me wonder though.

I guess it should be heat-proof as the bash plates are near the sump and exhaust manifold. Those alum foam aside from noise insulation, when grounded helps shield from static and cosmic energies. They come in different thickness.

so those aluminum coverings don't have any tendency of melting or god forbid.... spontaneously combusting?

medyo heat central din nga kasi ang placement niya kaya i'm very careful about this.

They are fire rated above 100'C and won't simply combust if temp breached. Try din yun suggestion ni bro ninja mga acoustic insulation nka double-sided adhesive or baka meron sa uratex special foam for that purpose. Kung superhot, the asbestos-like wool insulation fibre ng oven may nabbili sa lagermania or elba.

meron nga young nvh dampeners na extra sa bodega. i guess ginamit ng asawa ng utol ko dati at doon napadpad for some reason. siya iyong isang side may adhesive at iyong isa may aluminum thingy. i might use that na lang although medyo manipis but i reckon that'll do.

if you are lucky,a few days to a week, if left all day, with hot, noontime sun, with windows down.
it depends on the initial intensity, kasi.
