i have the same thoughts bro. out of more than 400 species roam around the world, >150 common pala ang meron dito sa atin. interesting.

Most of the Resto's, regular employees lang ang kasama sa service charge. When it comes to TIPS, most are centralized, kawawa naman yung mga nasa back of the house pag personalized.

Not many seals or sea lions, perhaps? Not many surfers either.

However, there have been shark attacks as recounted by survivors from sea battles such as the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

Just my 2 cents sir!

think of it this way, sir.
    it's a team effort.
the waiter couldn't have delivered the delicious food fast enough, if the cook wasn't good.
and the table was nice and clean because the cleaner in charge was efficient.
that waiter was all smiles because he knows the rest of the crew was behind his smile.

and the guard outside? i'm thankful his assistance prevented me from bumping the poste or the adjacent car, and his signaling prevented traffic from bumping into me as i exited the parking.
i heard that in some places, ka-hati ang guard, kahit partial lang. but abut na rin ako. collision repair is more expensive than any food i can think of right now.

i found something strange the last time we had our groceries at megamall during christmas. why it seems nobody amongst the baggers have no signs of interst to help us bring our groceries to the parking?
i opted to do the groceries first thing that day.
and so i ask one of the managers to help me find one for help. then i asked the bagger as we walked going to the parking why is it? 'tamad na po sir yung ibang maghatid sa parking kasi bawal na po kami tumanggap ng tip sa customers, policy po.' huh?! still i insist to give this guy his deserved tip yet he kept declining it. the guards are watching like a hawk daw and they will be sanctioned if they were caught accepting tips, kakapkapan pa raw sila minsan. pambihira kako. so upon reaching the the elevator, pinilit ko yung guy na tanggapin na niya yung bigay ko. bahala ka na kako dumiskarte. and so he accepted it then tucked it with his undies. the guy greeted us merry christmas with a nice smile on his face as we parted at the parking. pambihirang sm iyan oo

Ganun talaga sir, kahit sa LandMark. Some supermarkets go so far as to sew up the pant pockets para wala talagang malalagyan.

i don't mind giving tips, lalo't kung madami akong nabili. Napapaisip nga ako how much in tips they can earn in a day, kahit tig 5 pesos lang, i think it can be substantial. Off the books pa kamo ^_^

Which Landmark? I do my groceries in Landmark Makati and I haven't encountered a single bagger that did not accept my tip.

in shopwise sa festival mall dati parating may tumutulong sakin...

EDIT: but kahit na, they are paid to do so. di naman yata mga tip lng ng tao ang suweldo nila... kahit nakakadagdag kahit papaano

Hahah mga garapal yan. i have long since forced baggers in Landmark Trinoma to accept my tips, pero talaga ayaw nila and turn away even with hand gestures.

that's what exactly my point bro, imagine the christmas rush at the grocery. the aircon was blasting cold and this guy was working like a horse yet with his shirt soaked in sweat, halos lawit na nga ang dila eh. isa pa yung manager kung maka-utos, aba'y kulang na lang kaya latiguhin yung bata. could you please slow down, i said then to the manager. idk but if i have this soft spot when it comes with these kind of circumstances,,, much more with the wife and my daughter.
like dr. d said, there's nothing wrong to give for someone who deserves. or it's just me.

Maybe it's just a trinoma policy. Sa Makati they ask you kung papahatid ka and when they do, I always give tip (P20 lang)
