^it makes me happy to know that you were able to break out of the vicious cycle of poverty, in great part because of your parents'/grandparents' efforts.

Hopefully more Filipinos will have the same fate in the coming years..inclusive growth is perhaps our most important target as a developing nation.

Another fellow who achieved that is the fashion designer Avel Bacudio. He's the chief designer of Boardwalk and has his own fashion line called "Avel." He may not be that famous but his name is searchable in Google.

He was my schoolmate in grade school. He was in Section 6 while I in Section 1 in my town's public central school.

Tumutulong din naman po alako sa business every now and then so I don't feel "useless". Tska I remember nag set pala ako ng "due date" na dapat may work na ako before Dec. I just graduated btw baka akala niyo may years na ako naka tengga. Hehe
Eh di huwag ka na work. Meron pala kayo business, why not just take over? Or think of putting up your own business but still somewhat related to your family business, para hinde muna malaki adjustment mo.

Public school from elementary and high school sagot ni nanay at tatay, then working student na sila pag college. Malapit ako sa mga working students nung college days, laki ng respeto ko sa mga yun. Lahat sila maganda na ang buhay ngayon.

The daughter of our cook at home was put thru school no matter what the cost. She now is a team leader in a big call center but more importantly because her course was nursing, she just signed a three year contract to be a nurse in London. I asked how much. Life changing daw. Mga $35K++ a year. So happy for them.

The son of my mom's cook also works in a call center and rents a very decent place in makati. The two children of my mom's labandera (now retired ) still live in my folk's place but have very good jobs. I don't know why they still live there though. Hehe.

Education really allows you to break thru ceilings. I salute those that toiled day in and day out to offer their children the chance they themselves were never given.

Why do educational fieldtrips always make you sign a waiver?? Eh to think, the faculty (in-charge) should assume the responsibility of the parent during this activities..

I just don't get this school officials, they are educated in paper but has moronic IQ...

You'll be amazed how these 'challenges' builds character. I am fortunate to have been supported up until i graduated but 'worked' during college not because i needed to but to supplement what my parents gave. That's how i got to know fellow students who worked because they HAD to. Looking back i had promising classmates who got delayed not because they were lacking in intellect but because they had no money to rent a computer to do their reports. Tapos print pa e per page yun. Some gave up. But those who didnt give up are quite successful in their careers nowadays.

Signing waivers is something i don't mind but to have my daughter's field trip to Europe next year amazes me. My trips to Europe are all business. I never knew it can be field trip as well. Damn , i'm in the wrong educational generation.

It depends on the school and course bro.... Nowadays, they know that the parents can afford it...

    BTT:

I am thinking of the dastardly driving actions of the husband of a fellow employee early this morning. The moron obviously did not realize that I was the one who was in front of him. I, in turn, was behind a vehicle who was causing the traffic commotion, entering the main gate of the ecozone. He was blowing his horn to high heavens and was weaving left and right to get ahead of us...

Anyway, the mokong overtook both of us just a couple of hundred meters from our office [I also overtook the slow vehicle in front of me]. Worse, he blocked the [street] entrance to our assigned parking area in the company... I did not blow my horn and just observed his wife alight from their car and he making a fast u-turn. At that moment he should have realized that he has swiped at an officer of the company... Shameful actions, since wife and I know the person too... Well, his actions this morning further magnified his much talked/joked about wrongdoings in the past...

Concerning the shootings along I-10 over here....... At least there's a break in the case. One suspect is caught.

Phoenix I-10 shootings suspect: 'I'm the wrong guy' - CNN.com

The suspect's gun is forensically linked to four of the shootings.

so that, in the unlikely turn of events, they will have proof that the parent gave permission for the activity.
and the responsibility of the school or faculty for the well-being of your child, is always expected, to within the confines of reason.

and i don't really see the school officials' "moronic IQ" at play here at all.
