    I'm so thankful for my German boss. He never gets mad at me. We had a misunderstanding in the reports and he ended up doing 80% of my job last night I even had the nerve to joke if I can convert my sick leave to work from home since he made connect last night. And he said "If you like *smiley face*" I asked if he was serious and he said I can do whatever I want. OMG. I can NEVER NEVER find a boss like him. He is the best in the galaxy!!!!!

    Thankful to be surrounded with kind people.

    My second Mom's 93 yr old surgeon came all the way from Makati to Ortigas just to see us He did not even charge PF. My Tita said, he thinks dr surgeon might not even charge fee for surgery! Since he is technically retired we used my Dad's cardio's room and when dr cardio arrived, he said that 93 yr old dr surgeon is his idol Dad's cardio did NOT age at all since the early 90s OMG!

    What is it with these doctors and being immortal? lol

    And I thought my 91 yr old Lola is strong, turns out Dr surgeon is in better health! My Lola kasi medyo mabagal na maglakad e.

    dr APS referred us to a specialist because he said surgery is not indicated for my second mom. Si dr specialist, I thought he was young (max mid 40s). I did a little research today and found out that he is 50s na pala!!! He looks so young and even better looking decades ago. hahaha.

    Maybe because doctors are generally happy? Kaya matagal tumanda?

    I'm thankful for my Aunties. They never say no to me. They are all in their senior years and I get so depressed when I think about them being old. I can't imagine my life without them. I love them all so much.

    Naku sis. If you could only imagine the h*ll one goes through:

    • PREMED: College +NMAT +competing with thousands of applicants to get into the best med schools
    • 4 years of med proper, full time whole day classes (no working possible), halos everyday may exams ka. Sobra mahal books kasi imported halos lahat and dealing with profs na may "God complex";
    • internship;
    • board exam;
    • then competing (again!) with all those new doctors for limited slots in a 3-6yr residency program, working REALLY long hours and (still!) studying, getting paid less than a call center agent and at times, being scolded like a child by senior doctors (to think M.D. ka na nun ha?);
    • then taking years before achieving some sense of financial stability/independence...

    I'm surprised after all that I'm still sane.

    Definitely agree bro. We're halfway through that journey you described.

    From my experience, yung mga "masasaya" lang talaga ay yung mga consultant.

    Lahat ng kilala kong resident, super toxic and irritable, with little time for life. Also very common nowadays is moonlighting before residency just to regain their sanity after med school and boards, before once again diving into the insane world of residency.

    All the hell will be worth it though when you reach middle age. The doctors I know (and often see) are close to or are seniors na.

    I know a doctor that is 93 yo (still practices on special consideration) but could pass for 70s! My Dad's cardio, I met him in the 90s pa, I'm not kidding that he barely aged! My second Mom's doctor (who I have a crush on), I did not know was 20 yrs my senior WTF! I could go on and on

    Times have changed. I'm pretty sure these doctors you speak of studied medicine in a less stressful system than what exists now. A "milder" hell if I may say so. Maybe that's why they can afford to look so much more refreshed?

    Probably. And they all have a happy aura. I guess healing others does a lot for a person's well being.

    Doctors get so much gifts/food from the patients pa. That's a nice fringe benefit. LOL. There's this nephro I went to, I was last in the appointment, and he had so much gifts in his office na haha

    20 years ka magsusuffer before it becomes easy. Which is why many doctors are frivolous spenders - catching up on the youth they lost.

    You should see the chief residents of any subspec (although OB gyn is one of the most toxic) - they have the complete opposite of a happy aura.

    I personally noticed my aunt and parents of other friends find the "inner peace" that you speak of as they neared 50 yo. Same as the consultants that you visit in their clinic. Kumbaga nasa end stage na sila kaya madali na. But all the late 20s to early 30s doctors I know are overworked, underpaid, and definitely not exuding a "happy aura".
