I might be making use of more Adobe products. More RAM, less scratch use. Hence, 32GB. I think that's how it works. I have a stack of 2.5" SSDs plus a couple of M.2 SATA sitting at home. I can dedicate one SSD to be a scratch disk and another SSD for game installs. I also have a number of regular HDDs in case the SSD doesn't do well in scratch use.

My wife is grumbling about my current not-so-old i5-8600. I'll give that to my other kid. She's had her i5-4650k for 7 years now.

In anticipation of trading my i5-8600 for my kid's older i5-4670k, I went ahead and ordered a new PSU and HSF. That Haswell i5 PC's moving parts are all in rough shape. I'll replace the worn-out parts and use it as my new gaming PC in the garage. Good thing I don't overclock. The CPU/mobo should be in great shape once I clean out the dust. I can pair the system with an MSI 4GB GTX 770 that's lying around. Sure, it's less powerful than the R9 290x. But, the R9 seems to run awfully hot.

Thermaltake 700w PSU and Noctua low-profile HSF cooler. I still have that A10-7850k PC to refurbish. Save that one for later.



I don't know why. But, it's a good feeling to have spare PCs around.

Crap. I just realized I picked the wrong RAM. I should've changed the DDR4 3200 to DDR4 2933. That's what happens when I look at both Ryzen and i7 CPUs/mobos. It's Intel. I suppose I can tune it down to 2933 in the UEFI. Aaaand? An 11th gen i7 is in my future. He He.

I was originally planning to buy a Ryzen 7. But, it's availability kept fluctuating. So, I went Intel.

Oh, cool. That i7 comes with a free Crysis Remastered, Serious Sam 4, and Street Fighter V. They're probably on Steam like the ones from last time.
