    according to some sources,
it has already bested ondoy's mm of water/24 hr.

    but as i recall,
in ondoy, the rain was a continuous curtain, unlike today's, wherein there are rest periods in between.

That's what I read too. 455 mm Ondoy, while 458 mm Carina. Pero mas lubog Provident nung 2009? Could be because they made improvements na sa drainage.

I think this time we were lucky that they didn't have to open the dams to the same degree.

Ondoy I distinctly remember that the flood waters were coming from the "wrong" direction.

Meanwhile Gerald Anderson did some rescuing again. Say what you want about the chickboy ghoster but he is a "good neighbor" it seems.

Sea levels shoudl be checked as well. Nung Ondoy kasi sakto na high tide at talagang "high" ang tide.

You're right! Memory may be hazy I think there may even have been a storm surge during Ondoy.

The factory of my uncle in binondo they have to shut down the electrical panel as the flood water rises rapidly so he said this is much worse than Ondoy because during Ondoy the flood is not that high. The rain has stop in iut area since 6pm hopefully no more rains....

Marikina river was not as overflowed like Ondoy because of some dredging done by SMC.

    Ondoy still tops

Metro Manila flood due to habagat brings back memories of Ondoy, Ulysses

Meteorologist BA Racoma said that compared to Ondoy’s 455 millimeters (mm) of total rainfall over a 24-hour period, the enhanced southwest monsoon intensified by Carina brought 217 mm of rainfall within the same period.

In fairness, mukhang malaki na tulong talaga nun dredging ng SMB sa mga ilog.
